Kvapil Comes Home 28th At Richmond International Raceway

Travis Kvapil and the No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper / MinisMission.com Toyota Camry finished 28th at Richmond International Raceway, on Saturday, September 7. Kvapil overcame balance issues and contact with another competitor early in the race to bring home another solid top-30 finish.

With a pressure-packed weekend due to the impending "Chase for the Championship," drivers took full advantage of Friday's opening practice session with most teams completing between 50-100 practice laps. Kvapil and the No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper / MinisMission.com team ranked 21st on the speed chart following opening practice, and picked up another seventh-tenths of a second to secure the 33rd starting position for Saturday's Federated Auto Parts 400.

In a slow but steady climb, Kvapil started off the 400-lap race in the 33rd position. Despite making slight contact with another competitor during the opening five laps, Kvapil continued to race through the field. As the night wore on, track temperatures continued to change as the sun set over the 0.75-mile speedway and caused teams to continually work on the balance of their cars. Kvapil was no exception, as the BK Racing team fought a tight condition through the center of the corners. The No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper / MinisMission.com Toyota Camry team utilized each pit stop to help improve their car. By the time the checkered flag waved, Kvapil was scored in the 28th position.

"Our No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper / MinisMission.com Toyota Camry team worked really hard tonight in Richmond," commented Kvapil. "The balance of our Camry got a little bit ahead of us, but my team did a great job making changes and improving our car with every pit stop. It was an exciting weekend for us in a few ways-we had a great group of guests at the track this weekend. Our ownership group is based near Washington, D.C., so this is their home race and we always have a big group of guests at the track. Additionally, we had a new logo on our rear bumper this weekend with MinisMission.com. Mini's Mission is a non-profit foundation looking to raise funds to help find a cure for childhood cancer; with three kids of my own, it means a lot to me to help find a cure for something that children should never have to face."

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will take on Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday, September 15. On Friday, September 13, fans can tune into FOX Sports 1 for practice at 1 p.m. EDT, and ESPN 2 for qualifying at 5 p.m. EDT. FOX Sports 2 will broadcast track activities on Saturday, September 14, with practices aired at 11 a.m. EDT and 2 p.m. EDT. Live coverage of the Geico 400 will air on ESPN, MRN and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio at 2 p.m. EDT on Sunday, September 15.
