Montoya Featured In The High Fructose Adventures Of The Annoying Orange

Juan Pablo Montoya is quite the character; at least he is in the Cartoon Network show called The High Fructose Adventures of the Annoying Orange. He and fellow NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) driver Carl Edwards will be featured in the hit show on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Montoya’s character, Juan Papaya, takes part in the adventures as he battles against Hero Carl, Orange, Nerville and other characters in a Cherr-iot race.

The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange chronicles the adventures of Orange and pals Pear, Passion Fruit, Marshmallow, Apple, Grapefruit, Midget Apple and Nerville as they travel through time and space in their amazing fruit cart. From the Old West to the race track, Orange and crew drop into crazy adventures and are forced to squeeze their way out.

Notes of Interest:

· About the Episode: All hail Emperor Orange! From mere gladiator to almighty ruler of the Romaine Empire, Orange reigns supreme. But will his hubris be his undoing? Or at least really annoy his subjects? Will Nerville outpace the Cherr-iot drivers Hero Carl and Juan Papaya? Check out a preview of the episode at http://youtu.be/r8qOw-kRX_I

· In Character: The Cartoon Network created a character specifically for Juan Pablo Montoya named Juan Papaya. Papayas are a typical tropical fruit found in Montoya’s native Colombia. The voice-over was filmed earlier this year in California while teams were in town for the race in Fontana, Calif.

· All About the Show: The Annoying Orange started out as an American comedy web series created by former Minnesota film student and MTV production assistant Dane Boedigheimer in 2009. It stars its creator as a humanlike orange who annoys other fruits, vegetables, and various other objects by using insulting, rude, and sometimes crude-humored jokes. The show's popularity after its first episode led it to become the subject of a TV series, a video game, a range of toys and a t-shirt line.

· Montoya by the Numbers: Juan Pablo Montoya is currently in his seventh full-time year in the NSCS with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. The former Formula One Winner, CART Champion and Indianapolis 500 Winner, currently has nine pole awards, two NSCS wins, 24 top-five and 58 top-10 finishes in 244 starts. Currently, Montoya sits 20th in the NSCS standings.

Quote Board:

· Juan Pablo Montoya, Driver, No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS: “My kids are really excited to see their dad in a Cartoon Network show. Especially Sebastian as he has watched the Annoying Orange before. It’s pretty cool to be involved with things like this. It was a lot of fun to film, and for them to actually create a character for me is a cool deal. I can’t wait to watch the episode with my family.”
