Kansas Speedway Team Member Earns Recognition For Going The 'Extra Mile'

As the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup continues, one Kansas Speedway team member, Richard Christy, was honored this weekend for his work ethic and dedication when he was awarded the ServiceMaster Clean Extra Mile Award.

As captain of the Kansas Speedway Fire and Rescue Team, Christy has been a part of the track team since it opened in 2001. In his current role, the Kansas City-native oversees the fire and rescue trucks at the track and plays an integral role in the emergency response team.

“Richard can always be counted on to give 110 percent in all he does at Kansas Speedway,” says Gary Lee, fire chief for Kansas Speedway Fire and Rescue.

The compassion he exhibits as a paramedic carries into his daily life where he is always ready to assist others wherever needed. In addition to working race weekends, Christy helps with driving schools and other special events. For the past few years, he also has assisted the operations department with the racing surface maintenance and repair.

Away from the track, Christy enjoys target shooting and spending time with his friends and family.

“Similar to Christy’s reputation, ServiceMaster is always focused on going above and beyond to restore peace of mind in difficult times,” said Tom Coba, president of ServiceMaster Clean and Merry Maids. “His commitment to Kansas Speedway has earned him this recognition and will serve as a reminder to always go the extra mile.”

Since its inception in 2010, the ServiceMaster Clean Extra Mile Award has recognized 36 track team members across the country. Award recipients have been key members of full-time track staff and dedicated volunteers selected by track management personnel.

Each award winner’s name is engraved on a plaque that is displayed at the track where the individual works or volunteers. A personal plaque also is presented to recipients during the track’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race weekend.

Just like a ServiceMaster Clean caution signals a call for quick and professional action by the track services team and equipment on the race track, it’s the same when you call 800-RESPOND if disaster strikes your home or business. It means cleaning and restoration is going to be done quickly and professionally by America’s number one cleaning team.
