2013 Martinsville II: Spencer Gallagher NASCAR Truck Race Preview

This weekend the NASCAR Camping World Trucks series rolls into the famed Martinsville Speedway for Saturday’s Kroger 200. Known as “The Paperclip,” Martinsville has the reputation as one of the toughest tracks on the NASCAR circuit, with its tiny straightaways and hairpin turns.

Gallagher Makes Second Start - After running his first NCWTS race at Kansas Speedway earlier this year, Spencer Gallagher is looking to make his second NCWTS start at Martinsville. Coming off a strong series of finishes in the ARCA Racing Series, Gallagher plans to use that momentum to earn a solid finish Saturday.

Practice Makes Perfect - With no prior racing experience at Martinsville, Gallagher and crew chief Ryan “Pickle” London made the call to test at Martinsville earlier this month. To help the 23-year old NCWTS rookie, Gallagher Motorsports enlisted the aid of one of the most respected truck series veterans around, 2008 NCWTS Champion Johnny Benson. The two drivers spent the day discussing line, racing strategy and swapping seat time in the No. 21 Allegiant Travel machine. Benson was very complimentary of the truck’s handling and Gallagher left the test with the invaluable knowledge.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month – In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gallagher along with Allegiant Travel, have transformed their normal blue paint scheme into a bright pink. The truck will also include the awareness ribbon on the deck lid to show support.

Chassis Selection - Gallagher Motorsports will be fielding chassis No. 008 at Martinsville this weekend. Acquired from Turner-Scott Motorsports, the truck is expected to be competitive around the tricky Martinsville half-mile.

Appearances - Gallagher will be making the rounds with fans this weekend at Martinsville, appearing at the Team Chevy display on Friday at 1 p.m. alongside Dakota Armstrong. Additionally, Gallagher will be taking part in the NCWTS autograph session from 3-3:45 p.m. on Friday.

TV Time - The Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 at 11:30 a.m. ET this Saturday.

Martinsville a Strong Allegiant Market - Martinsville is an ideal market for Allegiant Travel. Located just over an hour from Roanoke (ROA) airport and servicing flights to Orlando/Sanford (SFB) and Tampa Bay (PIE), Allegiant is the Martinsville area’s best budget travel provider.

Spencer Gallagher, Driver of the No. 21 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet Silverado:
“I am really looking forward to getting back into the our No. 21 Allegiant Travel Silverado this weekend at Martinsville. We did a good amount of testing for the race and I learned a lot about the intricacies around the track and feel like we will be able to build upon that for a solid finish.”
