Double-Duty Weekend for Daniel Hemric at Five Flags Speedway... Daniel Hemric will compete in both the Snowflake Derby and the Snowball Derby this weekend at Five Flags Speedway. He will pilot the No. 54 Jack Link's/Valvoline Chevrolet for Sharp-Gallaher Racing in Saturday's Snowflake 100 and the No. 98 Super Late Model for Carswell Motorsports in the 46th running of the famed Snowball Derby.

Sharp-Gallaher Racing at Five Flags Speedway... This weekend marks the Denver, N.C.-based organization's first visit to the Pensacola, Fla.-based Five Flags Speedway for competition.

"Hotshoe" in Pensacola... Hemric is no stranger to Five Flags Speedway. One year ago, the half-mile oval was not very kind to the Kannapolis, N.C., native. However, 2013 has proven to be a completely different story. He visited Victory Lane there in June and claimed the 2013 Buddy's Home Furnishings Blizzard Series track championship at Five Flags Speedway with Carswell Motorsports. Hemric has finished fourth or better in every event he's entered there this year.

Guaranteed Starting Position for Hemric in the Snowball Derby... Five Flags Speedway grants a provisional starting position for the annual Snowball Derby to the leaders of the championship point standings in the Buddy's Home Furnishings Blizzard Series and the Southern Super Series. Hemric claimed both championship titles in 2013 and is guaranteed a starting position in Sunday's 300-lap race.

Hemric's Snowflake History... Hemric has three starts in the Snowflake 100. His best finish of fifth came in his first start in 2010. He followed it up with a sixth-place finish in 2011, and was eliminated early and relegated to a 34th-place result in the 2012 running of the 100-lap race.

2012 Snowball Derby Flashback... Last year was Hemric's career-first Snowball Derby start. Unfortunately, it did not end as he had hoped. Instead a blown tire and a hard crash on lap 125 ended his afternoon early, and sent the young driver to the hospital for further evaluation. He was scored with a 29th-place finish.

Previous Race Recap: Myrtle Beach... Hemric and teammate Will Gallaher represented Sharp-Gallaher Racing at Myrtle Beach Speedway for the 21st Annual Myrtle Beach 400. With nearly 70 drivers attempting to make the 42-car field for the Sunday, Nov. 24 feature event, only 20 were locked in by qualifying times. This also included the "Dash for Cash" drivers who were guaranteed starting spots. Following time trials both Hemric and Gallaher were placed in heat races in a final attempt to qualify for the main event. Hemric finished third in his 25-lap heat race, while Gallaher missed the transfer spot by only one position. Hemric started the feature race from the 24th position and exercised the plan to save tires until it was "go time." With 50 laps remaining in the race, he began the march forward, methodically passing cars. He climbed into the top five, but late-race cautions slowed the field and his progress, forcing two green-white-checkered finish attempts. Hemric ultimately took the checkered flag in the third position.

A Little More About Hemric... The 22-year-old began racing go-karts at the age of five before he graduated to Legends Cars at 16. Hemric won back-to-back Legends Pro Championships in 2008 and 2009, and claimed the 2009 Summer Shootout Championship at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, N.C.) with six visits to Victory Lane during the 10-race series. In 2010, the Kannapolis, N.C., native won the nationally televised Legends Million event held at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He then moved up to race Modifieds and Late Models. Hemric won his first Super Late Model event in 2011, and in 2012 was crowned the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion. So far 2013 has brought him additional track and series championship titles (Super Late Model), the Summer Shootout Championship and Legends Car Pro National Race Champion title. Hemric recently competed in the All-American 400 at Fairgrounds Speedway, earning a second-place finish and claiming the Southern Super Series Championship. Hemric made his career-first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start with Sharp-Gallaher Racing at Martinsville Speedway in October.

Snowball and Snowflake... Considered by many to be the most prestigious Super Late Model race in the United States, the Snowball Derby has taken place every December since the inaugural event in 1968. Practices for both races will take place on Friday, Dec. 6. An additional practice session for the Snowflake entries will occur on Saturday morning. Qualifying for the Snowball Derby is scheduled to begin on Friday at 6 p.m. local time, locking in the top 30. Time trials for the Snowflake Derby are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. The Allen Turner Snowflake 100 is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The 46th Annual Snowball Derby 300 presented by JEGS is set to go green on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.

About Five Flags Speedway... Five Flags Speedway was built in 1958 and is located on Pine Forest Rd. in Pensacola, Fla. The paved track is a high-banked, half-mile oval, known for its fast speeds. It was aptly named after Pensacola's nickname "City of Five Flags." Former SGR driver Cale Gale set the current track record for Super Late Models during the 2010 Snowball Derby qualifying session.

Daniel Hemric Quotes:

On running the double-header at Five Flags Speedway..."I'm really excited for this weekend at Five Flags Speedway, especially to be running in both races. Last year wasn't such a hot weekend for us. This year, however, has been a great one for us at Five Flags. I have a lot of confidence in both cars and am really looking forward to a lot of exciting racing. It's a fast and fun track, when you're running well that is."

On the Snowflake 100... "We have had great finishes in the Snowflake (100), with the exception of last year when we got caught up in an accident. I think we have a great chance of running for the win in our Sharp-Gallaher Racing car."

On the Snowball Derby... "This season has been a dream come true for me. We've had a lot of success in the Late Model and I had the opportunity to run a couple of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races with Sharp-Gallaher Racing. Winning the Snowball Derby would be the icing on the cake! We are going in with so much more experience and confidence this year compared to last year. I truly think we have a great shot at contending for the win. This weekend is going to be a lot of fun."
