Mason Massey Chasing Snowball Derby Win

There is one major Late Model race left on the 2013 racing calendar and Mason Massey wants to win it.

The 46th Annual Snowball Derby, as much a part of short-track racing lore as any other signature event, takes place this weekend at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. Recent winners including Johanna Long and Erik Jones have seen higher-level opportunities open up following their wins in this event.

Mason and his team along with major supporter Special Olympics-Georgia are hoping for similar happenings this weekend and they've made some changes in an attempt to increase the odds.

Doug Stevens, Mason's former INEX Legends Car Crew Chief with whom he won the 2012 Legends National Championship race, will lead the team's effort at the Snowball. Late Model legend Augie Grill was commissioned to provide the base setup for the sharp looking No. 15.

"We're excited about our chances this weekend," Mason said. "This race is one of the most competitive of the year. Kyle Busch nearly won it last year and other guys come in from outside like David Ragan and Landon Cassill. If you win this race you've really done something special. I am excited to be working with Doug once again and also with Augie Grill. It should be a fun weekend for us!"

Talking further about the "look" of the car for this weekend, Mason said "Special Olympics-Georgia has been a tremendous supporter of ours and I'm thankful for our relationship. It's such a blessing to be able to work with them. We are proud to be driving the Special Olympics-Georgia car this weekend and we're hoping to get them to victory lane!"

Mason's website is located at
