Early Report From The Kartdrome 24 Hours

The fourth and final round of the 2013 Kartdrome Endurance Championship was flagged off at exactly 12:00 noon at the Kartdrome, releasing a full grid of 32 teams on a 24 hours championship deciding contest.

Three titles are on the line: the all important overall championship, the hotly contested corporate championship and the prestigious Nations Cup.

Contenders for all three, with their three teams, CG Racing sugnalled their intent by claiming the top two spots on the grid - with CG Racing Pro and CG Racing 2 - as they dominated qualifying. Only Russian team Squadra who qualified third prevented, it being a clean sweep of top three positions for the CG Racing outfit.

From the start the CG Racing Pro team with Alban Varutti on duty, set the pace with the sister CG Racing 2 team in tow. At one stage the CG trio topped the timing screens. Their target of title wins in each category well on track early on in the proceedings.

Chasing hard in the Pro category, despite a below par qualifying, were championship points leaders Dubai Falcon Racing Team led by Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum. The team are very aware that only a win will sedure the championship.

In the Corporate Category, CG Racing are targeting a one-two in the championship and early on they looked more than capable of achieving the goal, but should have their hands full containing Team Emirates who won last time out and spent time in the lead during the first hours of the race.

With almost half the grid consisting of international teams top honours in the Nations Cup is highly coveted with several teams capable of snatching the prestigious accolade. Early on the all Lebanese line-up of CG Racing 1 were in atight battle with French teams GP Racing and CER Karting, while a host of Russian teams, including Squadra and BFA Pitstop Attack, along with Austrian outfit Plus City.

The race will continue until 12:00 noon on Saturday (7 December) with the top teams expected to do between 1160 and 1170 laps.
