Six V8 Ute Drivers Till In Sydney Series Finale

New South Welshman, David Sieders, has walked away with his 4th ARMOR ALL Pole Award today (Saturday, 7th December) and $1000 cash, when he broke the Qualifying record to claim the session in a time of 1:44.7385 at the final round of the 2013 Auto One V8 Ute Racing Series – protected by ARMOR ALL at the Sydney 500.

Sieders, backed by Mine Site Fencing Australia, still sits in fourth but is inching closer to the lead, only 98 points from 1st and 22 points from a podium finish in 3rd, and is absolutely wrapt with his fourth Pole win for the year.

“We have four poles for the year, just like last year and the year before, I’m making a habit of getting four poles in the year. It was great to go Pole on debut, when we debut the last car Mary, which is sadly in the grave yard now, we also put it on pole so it’s good to back it up with the new car Phoenix.”

“I’m always confident going into race 1 starting on Pole. The championship battle is never over until it’s over, those boys are a bit far back so hopefully they can get tangled up and I can clean up the scraps,” said Sieders.

Rentco Racing’s Kris Walton has now moved away from Kim Jane, (they were equal fifth coming into the round), after putting in the second fastest time. Walton put in his Fastest Lap before having brake issues and sliding into the run-off at Turn 1.

“It was a good start to the weekend, we missed out on pole by about 400ths but the car was good at the end of the session so we know it’s a good race car. It was funny, we did our last lap and we thought it was good enough, but off the straight I lost the brakes and I ended up into the fence but we had enough time to get the lap so it was good,” said Walton.

Nathan Pretty pushed his Milwaukee Holden into third in the last minutes of the session and moved himself into second in the championship, 37 points shy of Harris who claimed 6th in Qualifying, just behind Kim Jane who has now slipped to 6th in the Series.

Rookie Elliot Barbour posted a solid top ten result in 5th only 400ths of a second in front of Sieders Racing teammate Andrew Fisher.

HT Racing’s Ryan Hansford came home in 8th ahead of Craig Dontas in his Thirsty Camel Holden in 9th and Jack Le Brocq rounded out the top ten in his Wake-up Holden.

Rhys McNally has now dropped to third 9 points shy of Pretty, after he claimed 13th in Qualifying.

The V8 Utes will be back on track for Race 1 at 1:30pm, which will be in a delayed telecast through seven at 3:20pm.

See below the full schedule for the weekend:
Saturday, 8th December Race 1 1:30pm
Saturday, 8th December Race 2 5:35pm
Sunday, 9th December Race 3 10:50am

There are still 105 points up for grabs with six drivers still in with a chance to walk away with the title.
