Thanks For An Incredible 2013 Global Rallycross Season!

The 2013 Global Rallycross season was one of many incredible firsts. From becoming the first rallycross series to ever hold races on three continents in the same season, to establishing the GRC Lites class to run alongside the established Supercars, Global Rallycross took significant steps in both competition and series development over the past year.

When all was said and done, a pair of young Finnish superstars—Toomas Heikkinen in Supercars and Joni Wiman in Lites—emerged victorious over the field, but they weren’t the only drivers to make waves. Veterans of nearly every major worldwide racing series, from NASCAR Cup to Formula 1 to the World Rally Championship, entered GRC events; in all, 40 drivers from 13 different countries scored points among the two classes. The season started with newcomer Scott Speed winning X Games gold in his very first start, while international superstar Ken Block closed the year with his first series victory in Las Vegas.

Now that the 2013 season has come to a close, the trophies have all been awarded, and the dust has settled, here’s a look back at the year that was for Global Rallycross.
