TubaChristmas brings groups together worldwide to perform holiday classics. A local group based in Concord, N.C., brings together school-age musicians and other instrumentalists from the community under the direction of Joseph Earp, director of bands at Cox Mill High School.

Earp expects between 50 and 75 participants to take part in the Speedway Christmas concert on Saturday night.

“The mission of TubaChristmas is to provide an opportunity to bring together musicians of all ages that play baritone, euphonium, sousaphone and tuba to perform classic Christmas tunes,” Earp said. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to perform at such a unique venue and be part of Speedway Christmas.”

Among other tunes, classic holiday songs like “Deck the Halls,” “Silent Night” and “Joy to the World” are on the playlist for this year. The group is scheduled to perform near the Christmas Village in the infield beginning at 7 p.m.

Before taking in the melodious tunes of TubaChristmas, fans are invited to enjoy the 3.1-mile Speedway Christmas course, which features 3 million LED lights and 800 displays. The light displays and Christmas Village are sure to put visitors of all ages in the Christmas spirit.

This weekend’s Speedway Christmas show will also feature the holiday classic “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Come see the lights and hear holiday tunes before settling into a movie on the World’s Largest HDTV at 7 p.m.

Speedway Christmas will be open nightly from Nov. 23-Dec. 30 from 6-10 p.m., and is closed Christmas Day. Thursday through Sunday nights, visitors can enjoy even more family entertainment in the Christmas Village. The village includes marshmallow roasting, a petting zoo and kids’ zone, photos with Santa, Bethlehem Village and so much more.

Admission to Speedway Christmas is $15 per car on nights the village is closed and $20 per car on nights the village is open. Group rates for tour buses and corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available.
