As the official timepiece partner of Erebus, CITIZEN watches are worn by the drivers, including Lee Holdsworth, and all members of staff at the track and every day of the week.

The sponsorship announcement was made in the presence of Tomoaki Imazeki CEO of Citizen Watches Australia, and Naoto Hosogaya Managing Director of Citizen Watches (H.K.) Ltd. during the final round of the V8 Supercars at the Sydney NRMA Motoring & Services 500 around the Olympic Park street track.

"We have been involved with Erebus and preceding that Stone Brothers Racing for six years and it really has provided many benefits for the CITIZEN brand," said Rod Willment Sales & Marketing Manager at Citizen Watches Australia.

"CITIZEN activates its partnership with Erebus through a retailing program which includes store promotions and getting clients close to the action at the track.

"From beginnings with the Super Chronograph watch, which is racing inspired, we have been able to promote models which bring new technology to our industry. Using our V8 partnership provides a great way to showcase technology, speed and precision, which of course is what racing is all about as well."

Erebus Motorsport CEO Ryan Maddison was pleased to re-confirm CITIZEN as partner in the racing operation.

"CITIZEN is a perfect example of how a partnership can really deliver for both parties," said Maddison.

"They don't simply put a logo on a car, they actively use the association to drive sales through a variety of in-store and other promotions.

"Our team proudly wears CITIZEN watches and for sure, we are always on time."

Founded in 2011, Erebus Motorsport has quickly become a well respected player in Australian and international motorsport. Beginning with the first of AMG Customer Sports' SLS AMG GT3 outside Europe, and then took the bold move in 2012 to introduce AMG into the Australian V8 Supercars for 2013.

Erebus Motorsport is unique in having V8 Supercars first and only sole female team owner in Betty Klimenko. The Sydney businesswoman has driven the program from the very beginning off the back of her passion for motorsport and the development of young talent.

Erebus has been developing its three E63 AMG V8 Supercars throughout 2013 in a combined effort between Australia and Germany. Outside its pair of SLS AMG GT3s and the V8 Supercars, Erebus Motorsport holds a franchise in the V8 Utes category and has established the Erebus Motorsport Academy to develop young driving and engineering talent. The organisation holds proprietary rights to the right hand drive version of the AMG E-Cell driver safety cell used in the SLS AMG GT3 and across the DTM platform under the Erebus Engineering banner.

For more than 70 years CITIZEN has been at the forefront of innovative watch technology. As a true manufacture d'horlogerie, CITIZEN’s artisan approach has ensured that the brand has remained a leader in both technology and design.

Eco-Drive is CITIZEN’s proprietary technology that powers watches using any natural or artificial light source. This technology drives the watch by incorporating a solar cell that generates electricity from captured light. Surplus electrical energy is stored in a rechargeable battery. This mechanism has earned a reputation as being ecologically friendly as it eliminates the need for replacing batteries, incorporating a rechargeable battery that does not use harmful metals and no toxic substances are used in the manufacturing process.

The light powered, rechargeable battery has the capacity to store enough energy to power the timepiece, even in the dark, from 6 months to 7 years depending on the model.

By removing batteries from the waste stream and ultimately the environment, CITIZEN Eco-Drive is a product that not only contributes to environmental sustainability; it also makes owning CITIZEN Eco-Drive watches a socially responsible choice.

Citizen Watches Australia (CWA) was established in May 1965. CWA operates across Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the South Pacific Islands with their head office located in Frenchs Forest, NSW. CWA believes that delivering excellence is the key to building successful partnerships with retailers and consumers alike. Excellence in product, marketing and service is paramount, and the resources required to achieve excellence are viewed as investments, not costs.
