The young-gun will take to the track for his 2014 campaign, with backing from Just Car Insurance, thanks to Dontas Management.

Barbour finished just outside the top ten overall this year and Murphy Motorsport Team Owner David Murphy is excited to have the Victorian join his lineup and is looking to take him to a championship title.

“This is a huge step forward for us; we have some seasoned campaigners within our stable. This kid has showed great speed all year and Craig can help him commercially, he is a star of the future,” said team owner, David Murphy.

A driver with a background in Porsche Racing, Formula Ford and the V8 Supercar Development Series, Barbour has shown raw speed throughout his rookie season. A move to Murphy Motorsport and a switch to a Holden feels like the right fit for the 22 year old Victorian.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime, it has been a roller coaster ride this year for me, the speed has been there but at times I have thrown away some good results. It’s a great feeling that the team and Just Car Insurance have put their faith in me. They recognize my strengths and are prepared to help me develop into that complete race driver. I am excited for what lies ahead,” said Barbour.

He will not only compete in the full 2014 season, but will have a test with Erebus Racing, in either their E63 AMG V8 Supercar or the Bathurst 12 Hour winning SLS AMG GT3 Gullwing, at some stage next year as a prize for taking out the 2013 Yokohama V8 Ute Rookie of the year title.

Murphy Motorsport ran a four car team in 2013 including; Craig Dontas, Gerard McLeod, Matt Nolan and second outright Nathan Pretty, and has confirmed there may be other changes in the team for the 2014 season and will announce all of their plans in a launch prior to Round 1 at the Clipsal 500.

Barbour will take the Just Car Insurance Racing Holden for its first run mid-January before hitting the track for Round 1 of the 2014 V8 Ute Racing Series at the Clipsal 500 27th February – 2nd March.
