Raoul Hyman Confirms BRDC F4 Return With HHC Motorsport In 2014

South African racer Raoul Hyman has confirmed he will return to the BRDC F4 Championship in 2014, continuing his relationship with the front-running HHC Motorsport team.

Hyman finished seventh in the 2013 BRDC F4 Championship in his first season in car racing, securing four podiums with a best finish of second at Snetterton in June, with third placed finishes at Brands Hatch Indy, Oulton Park and Brands Hatch GP. A remarkably consistent driver, Hyman scored points in 23 of the 24 races, outshining drivers with vastly more experience at this level.

The 17-year-old entered F4 with a strong pedigree in karting, both in South Africa and in the UK, and earned a reputation for being a very exciting driver to watch. Having only started racing in 2008, Raoul picked up various Club and National Rookie Titles before securing the South African National championship in 2009, in Mini Max. He moved to the UK and was top Rookie in the British Super One National Championship - Junior Rotax in 2011, before finishing a close third in the Super One Championship in 2012. He went on to represent Team GB at the Rotax Grand Final in Portugal that year.

Raoul is eager to start the new season: "I am really looking forward to 2014 and April can’t come fast enough. The grid promises to be even bigger and the championship has again attracted a very high quality field so far. My first year in cars was a sharp but exciting learning curve especially as I had to learn the circuits as well. I intend to put that knowledge to good use in 2014, and mount a serious challenge for the championship. I am also pleased to return with HHC, besides running a very professional operation, they’re a great group of people."

Driver coach and GP2 frontrunner Jolyon Palmer commented: "It’s great to see Raoul back in F4 in 2014. After working with him this year he showed good pace and I expect him to fight for the championship in his second season."

HHC Motorsport’s Charlie Kemp enthused: "It’s fantastic to have Raoul back in the team for 2014. He did a very good job in his maiden season in single seaters and showed excellent pace throughout the season. With his experience now and with the pace he’s developed he will definitely be in the title hunt for 2014."
