They may be the lesser seen side of the World Championship, but they are fundamental to the successes of Dani Pedrosa, Marc Marquez, Alex Rins, Alex Marquez, Maria Herrera and Marcos Ramirez. They are the engineers and mechanics who work hard all season to set up their bikes.

The Monlau Repsol Technical School, a leading light in the training and creation of jobs for these young professionals in Spain, will tomorrow celebrate the graduation of the fourth batch of alumni in the Master of Engineering for Competition course. These graduates will one day make the move to top-level competition on both two and four wheels.

Training at this specialist technical school is based on a specific curriculum which follows the rules of the FIM and FIA, plus education of working methodology and hours of practical training at circuits ─for which the school possesses its own competition structures and agreements with other top quality teams. Theory classes are given by active professionals, whilst masterclasses are run by recognised experts in the sector.

During the 2012/13 school year, Repsol awarded more than 20 grants covering half of the inscription costs for the various courses. On Thursday the alumni with the best academic results on the Masters course will receive a prize for their efforts. In addition, two of the most innovative projects in racing will be presented: An electric kart and an electric Pre-GP bike. Thanks to Repsol's support, the alumni have been able to make dummy models of their projects to a 1:2 scale.

Repsol and Monlau Competicion, two prestigious entities in the world of racing, signed a collaboration agreement at the start of 2013 to aid the training of future engineers and mechanics for two and four-wheel competition.

For more than 40 years, Repsol have been supporting sport through sponsorship in different racing disciplines. During this time, the energy company have been at the forefront of technology, innovation and development of products for the highest competition, and have become a reference point in the support of young talents. A demonstration of this is the title sponsorship of the CEV Repsol ─a series which has served as a stepping stone to the World Championship for the most promising young riders.
