Enea Bastianini Joins Junior Team GO&Fun Moto3 For 2014

The Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3 is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with young, talented rider, Enea Bastianini, to race in the 2014 Moto3 World Championship alongside Niccolò Antonelli. In order to give even more momentum and energy to the “Progetto Giovani” youth development program that the team have been carrying on successfully for a couple of years, the choice - following the request of the management of Isaac Vinales to resolve the contract with the team, accepted by Gresini Racing - could only fall upon a promising Italian talent.

Enea Bastianini, who will turn 16 at the end of the year, rode for the first time a minibike aged only 3 and 3 months; hence his racing number, 33. The following years saw the youngster from Rimini racing successfully in different categories, including the MiniGP 70cc Italian Championship, the Honda NSF250R Trophy (2012 champion) and the MotoGP Rookies Cup (two victories in his first appearence, in 2013). Throughout 2013, Enea also took his first steps in Moto3, participating in 5 races of the Italian Championship.

Bastianini already tested the bike that he will use in 2014, during the tests carried out last November in Almeria.

Enea Bastianini “For me it’s like a dream come true: I am very happy and also very excited. I will have the opportunity to race for a fantastic Team, composed of highly trained technicians with whom I look forward to working. Last November in Almeria I tested for the first time the bike that I will use during the season and I immediately loved it: it’s very fast and in many ways different from what I used to ride in the MotoGP Rookies Cup. On paper, it’s the best situation to gain experience in the best way possible. My main goal for my first year in the World Championship is to enjoy myself: I am convinced that this kind of approach will lead to good results”.

Fausto Gresini “The decision made together with GO&FUN President Bruno Bollini satisfies me a lot: we are really happy to give to a young talented rider like Enea Bastianini the opportunity to compete in a World Championship, fullfilling his dream. A choice that, moreover, fits perfectly within our ‘Progetto Giovani’ youth development program, which aims to provide important opportunities for young talents. On one hand, we will line up an experienced rider, Niccolò Antonelli, who will face a crucial season in which he will need to reap the fruits of his work. On the other hand, Enea will face his first apprenticeship year, during which he must try to learn and grow. A nice mix which, I am convinced, will give us a lot of satisfaction: we will push to bring Italy in the positions that count in Moto3, trying to battle the recent Spanish supremacy”.
