BurnsGroup Heads Chrysler Group's SRT Motorsports Public Relations Effort


BurnsGroup Unlimited, LLC announced today that it has been selected by the Chrysler Group LLC's SRT (Street and Racing Technology) brand as its PR agency for the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship for 2014.

"We are very pleased to have been chosen by Chrysler Group to handle their sports car racing public relations activities for SRT Motorsports," said Barbara J. Burns, President and CEO of BurnsGroup Unlimited. "While the race team has been steadily improving on the track, we're joining SRT at an exciting and opportune time and we look forward to a thrilling year."

Burns and team account manager Adam Saal have over 50 years of combined motorsports experience to bring to the management of the new account and are known around the paddock for their knowledge and proven ability to get the job done.

"We have an exciting new season ahead in the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship series and look forward to the 2014 season," said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO, SRT Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC.

Burns, a recognizable face in the racing paddock, has created a vast network of motorsports contacts around the world, with a specialization in the United States. Her international reach includes a stint with the Atlanta Olympic Broadcasting arm of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and work on the FIA World Endurance Championship, to name a few. Burns has experience with more than 20 races at the 24 Hours of Daytona and seven races at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, among other global outreach, including races in China, Japan, Brazil and throughout Europe, which has broadened her international scope.

A career motorsports communications professional, Saal brings extensive PR experience in the team, sanctioning body, sponsor and track/event sectors. He previously managed the PR and communications departments for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, GRAND-AM Road Racing, IMSA and CART IndyCar/Champ Car in addition to several other projects and accounts with top race and championship winning teams and leading industry manufacturers in a career spanning more than 25 years.

Completing the three-person team is Matthew Simmons, who comes to BurnsGroup after several years with GolinHarris on the Toyota NASCAR account, which included extensive work with public relations strategies, social media and promotions. His interest in motorsports began in a previous stint with BurnsGroup and he later worked as the marketing and promotion coordinator at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He has experience as a radio producer and announcer at his alma mater, Georgia State University, among other skills.
