Jake Dennis Set To Race With Carlin In FIA Formula Three European Championship

British racer Jake Dennis is the latest driver to be confirmed for Carlin’s 2014 assault on the FIA Formula Three European Championship. The 18 year old, who is backed by the Racing Steps Foundation, will follow in the footsteps of Oliver Turvey, James Calado and Jack Harvey in his move to Formula Three with the British team.

Dennis has already enjoyed a strong junior career in motorsport, with numerous karting wins and Championship titles to his name before fighting to become the 2012 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC champion taking three wins in the process. His success that season saw him take the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC award.

Building on an already stellar career, Dennis moved to the Formula Renault Eurocup 2.0 Championship for the 2013 season – a series in which he took one pole position and finished fourth overall. For 2014 Dennis takes on the new challenge of Formula Three; competing with Carlin, who in 2013 won races in the FIA Formula Three European Championship and clinched their ninth British Formula Three title.

Speaking of his upcoming season and his hopes for a strong rookie year, Dennis said, ‘I can’t wait for the season to start so that I can get out in the Formula Three car. The championship is very competitive and there is so much to learn and while it will be a big challenge I’m glad to be undertaking it with Carlin as I think we can be strong together.

‘Their reputation in Formula Three speaks for itself and if I can replicate what my Racing Steps Foundation predecessors have done then I’ll be extremely pleased. I also raced against Jordan (King) in Eurocup so to see how successful he was in his rookie year with Carlin is a big boost and I’ll be aiming for similar results myself.’

Trevor Carlin added, ‘We’re very happy to welcome Jake to our Formula Three team for the 2014 season, he has a good reputation and I’m sure his talent will shine through over the course of the upcoming year. We’re very proud to be working again with the Racing Steps Foundation, which is a fabulous initiative from Graham Sharp. We’ve created two vice champions and a British F3 champion together previously and we will be doing our upmost again for Jake at this important point in his career.’
