The FIA is a non-profit association established in 1904 to represent the interests of motoring organizations around the world. Headquartered in Paris the FIA consists of 213 national member organizations in 125 countries worldwide.

Its most prominent role is in the licensing and arbitration of the Formula One and World Rally Championship series. The International Olympic Committee provisionally recognized the federation in 2011, and granted full recognition in 2013.

Elected into the commission last December, Duno will join the group of thirty women members of the sports committee which is chaired by Michèle Mouton, President of the Women & Motor Sport Commission and 2nd place finisher in the 1982 World Rally Championship.

Duno and Japanese driver Keiko Ihara, who last year competed in the World Endurance Championship in the LMP2 category, are the only active drivers that are part of this organization that was created in 2009 under the direction of the president of the FIA, Jean Todt. The Spanish driver, Maria De Villotta, recently deceased, served on the commission as well.

Monisha Kaltenborn, team principal and CEO of the Sauber Formula One team is also part of the commission. Kaltenborn is the first female team principal in Formula One history.

Most recently Duno finished 7th in the 2013 ARCA Racing Series Championship in the USA - becoming the highest finishing Venezuelan driver and the 2nd highest finishing female driver in ARCA’s 61-year history. During the 2013 season Duno captured the pole at Talladega Superspeedway, led laps in the season-opener at Daytona and earned 2 top-ten finishes.

Duno becomes the third Latin American to be elected to the committee and will be working with Brazilian Fabiana Fozzie Ecclestone (wife of Formula 1 boss Bernie Eccelstone) and from Mexico, Dr. Jennifer Bertin, an otolaryngologist and trauma specialist with over two decades of experience relating to motor sports.
