Drivers Ian James (Phoenix), Mario Farnbacher (Ansbach, Germany), Alex Riberas (Barcelona, Spain) and Marco Holzer (Bobingen, Germany) had a tough start to the first day of Rolex 24 practice. In the first session, Porsche Junior driver Riberas was going through Turn Four, where a car had put oil down on the track. He went off the track and reentered the racing surface hitting another car. The damage to the Team Seattle-Heart of Racing Porsche was significant. The Alex Job Racing crew did a great job to get the car fixed in time for qualifying.

Farnbacher had the controls of the No. 23 Porsche for qualifying and posted a lap time of 1:48.094 (118.719 mph) that twill have the team starting from the 10th row in GTD Saturday.

"This morning Alex [Riberas] had some bad luck," Farnbacher said. "On his second lap of the first practice, he went through the kink and there was oil on the track and he went off and hit another car. No fault of his own, but there was a lot of damage. The Alex Job Racing crew did a great job to get the car ready for qualifying. It was a pretty good car for qualifying. We lost a lot of track time today. There is a small gap to the other teams, but we have some speed left in the Team Seattle-Heart of Racing Porsche. The team really worked hard today. It is a long race, so I am not sad about the qualifying time. We will be good for the race."

Alex Job, AJR team principal, put his team to work early in the day.

"That is not the way you want to start a 24 hour weekend," Job said. "Alex hit some oil and then was just a passenger. We had to replace the whole front of the car. The guys did a great job to get the Porsche back on the track for qualifying. Mario did a good job to put in a time with a car that was not perfect. We will get it perfect for the race. We are looking forward to having a good 24 hours and to raising a lot of money for Seattle Children's Hospital and pediatric cardiac health care nationally on Saturday and Sunday."
