John Edwards: "We knew the strengths and weaknesses from the BMW from last year and we knew this was going to be a difficult event for us speed-wise. I think our strength will come from preparation and lasting the 24 hours. The goal is just to remain on the lead lap until the end, because especially in a class with 10 or 11 cars, there’s bound to be some attrition. Staying on track is what’s going to net us some good points and a shot at the win.

The way the classes are, especially GTLM compared to GTD, it’s a completely new challenge with traffic because a lot of the GTD cars are faster than us. Today in practice, I passed a GTD Ferrari into turn five, and he passed me back in NASCAR Four. Then I had to pass him back into turn one again. Combine that with Daytona prototypes that are going way faster than us, it’s going to make for an interesting mix and a really tough night stint—Especially here when half the race is a night stint."

John is also competing in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge for the 2014 season with Fall Line Motorsports and co-driver Trent Hindman in the 46 BMW M3. Tomorrow, Friday, January 24th, they will be starting from third in the Daytona Rising 200 at 1:45pm.
