Countdown To Daytona 500: 30 Days To Go

By Reid Spencer, NASCAR Wire Service

There are 30 days remaining before the 2014 Daytona 500; hence, the number for today is:

30: The number of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races Tony Stewart has started at Daytona International Speedway. A rookie in 1999, with an unbroken string of Daytona starts from that point on, Stewart has four victories at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, but he has yet to earn the triumph he covets—in the Daytona 500. Having suffered a broken right leg in a Sprint Car accident in Iowa last August, Stewart plans to return to action in the Feb. 15 Sprint Unlimited, a race he has won three times. If his recovery continues as expected, Stewart will return to points competition in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in the Feb. 23 Daytona 500.
