Mario Farnbacher, of Ansbach, Germany was in the No. 23 Team Seattle Porsche 911 GT America just past the halfway mark of the 52nd Rolex 24 at Daytona. During his stint, he was able to keep the car in the top 10 of the GTD field.

"My second time was a little difficult," Farnbacher said. "The Ferrari and Audi R8s are so quick in a straight line that it is difficult to keep up with them. There is a lot of traffic out there. I was able to overtake a few cars and we are running good in the top 10. I am looking forward to my next late morning stint."

Alex Riberas, of Barcelona, Spain, took over for Farnbacher for his next stint in the the No. 23 Alex Job Racing-prepared Porsche. He drove one stint during the overnight hours and spent most of that time in seventh place two laps down to the overall GTD race lead. On lap 407, Riberas came to pit lane for four tires, fuel, a brake and driver change. At that point, teammate Marco Holzer, of Bobingen, Bavaria, got into the car.

"To be honest, I felt quite comfortable this time," Riberas said. "I took it a bit easier because the brake pads were a bit wasted. I tried to keep a constant pace, stay out of trouble with the traffic, and move up some positions. We managed to do that, but there is still a long way to go."

During that pitstop, the team had trouble with the left rear center screw. This untimely issue caused the No. 23 machine to go four laps down in GTD when Holzer took to the track. Just before sunrise, Holzer completed his stint and the team was five laps down.

"It was OK," Holzer said of his stint in the car. "At the end [of his stint], I had a flat spot on the tires, and I had so many vibrations that I had to come in 10 laps earlier that what we had planned. But, the car is still running well."

Ian James, of Phoenix, Ariz., took over for Holzer as the sun rose over the World Center of Racing. Twenty laps into his stint, he was in 11th place and reported that the engine was cutting out. Under yellow, on lap 486, the team brought the No. 23 Porsche to pit lane to change the throttle body. Due to the extended stay on pit lane to fix issue, the No. 23 dropped to 15th place in GTD.

"The first part of the stint was good," James said. "Then, we had an electronic or motor issue and the engine starting cutting out. So, we had to come in and review it. We changed the throttle body. It's just disappointing, but we'll keep going."

With a little more than six hours left, Farnbacher back in the No. 23 Team Seattle Porsche.
