Golf Stars Get To Grips With Autodrome's Single Seater Experience

Top golfers Wade Ormsby, Richard Green, Marcus Fraser and Peter Hanson can normally be seen whacking balls at a driving range ahead of a major tournament, but on Monday (26 January) they were doing a different kind of driving when they visited Dubai Autodrome.

Apart from their well documented golfing pedigree, all four have a penchant for speed and the occasional injection of adrenalin, so a Formula 1 style Single Seater experience for the quartet was just the tonic before the serious business of hitting small balls long distances at the Dubai Desert Classic.

The quartet donned on race suits and helmets and proceeded to drive laps around the Dubai Autodrome, under the watchful eye and guidance of Middle East champion race driver and Autodrome instructor Tarek Elgammal.

Afterwards 1997 Dubai Desert Classic winner Green wrote on Twitter: "Thanks heaps @tarekelgammal for the skid around tonight loads of fun. Get yourself to @Dubai_Autodrome and learn from the best."

Elgamal summed up, "I was extremely impressed by the professionalism and speed shown by professional sports people from a totally different sporting discipline than motorsport."

"All of them were super quick by the end of the session and I had to push very hard in order to keep pace. I have the utmost respect for the mental and mechanical ability Richard, Peter, Wade and Marcus showed today and can see why they are such successful professional sportsmen."

"I wish them all the best in the Dubai Desert Classic this week and I'm sure they will be back at Dubai Autodrome again after hearing their enthusiasm for the Single Seater experience," added Elgammal.
