RSR Racing Press Announcement

The fight for RSR Racing's third Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona class victory will wait until next year as the East Lansing, Michigan team fell short of their goal during the 52nd annual event on the high banks of the Daytona International Speedway. With two Prototype Challenge entries in this year's TUDOR United Sports Car Championship, RSR Racing had hoped for better results than the 8th and 9th place class finishes they ended with.

Both the 08 AutoMaxUSA.com and the 09 LinospressoUSA.com Oreca FLM09's performed in power and handling for the drivers and at the start and looked to be the one's to beat in the Prototype Challenge class.

The 08 AutoM axUSA.com racecar driven by the foursome of Alex Tagliani, Chris Cumming, Rusty Mitchell and Conor Daly spent the early hours of the event leading the Prototype Challenge class. Plagued by, as the Twittesphere called them, questionable penalties, the drivers fought back to run strong mid-class. Nearing the 14th hour Cumming hit the wall exiting the chicane in the middle of the super stretch damaging the car to badly too continue.

Both Bruno Junqueira and Duncan Ende along with endurance teammates of the 09 LinospressoUSA.com team, David Heinemeier Hanson and Gustavo Menezes performed very well but battled mechanical issues to keep them from contending in the middle section of the famed endurance event. Just as with the other team car an on-track incident caused the F3 standout Gustavo Menezes to spin while avoiding a collision with another car only to do un-repairable damage in the tire barrier.

Not the results the team was looking for to kick-off the new era of the TUDOR United Sports Car Championship but will return to Michigan to prepare the cars and travel back to the Sunshine State for the next round of the 2014 season, the 62nd Annual Mobil 1™ 12 Hours of Sebring on March 14th.
