The Kartdrome Endurance Challenge, run since 2005, is a mainstay of the UAE motorsport calendar. The series has been dubbed a form of 'extreme racing' – as tough as it gets, requiring stamina, concentration, speed, consistency and most importantly team work – all this under the duress of hard fought competition over periods of around 12 hours in the first three rounds of the year and 24 hours at the season finale.

At the end of each race there will always be a winning team, but in truth competing with enthusiasm and completing the event is a victory in itself, as most who have experienced this form of racing will testify.

Rules for the new season have been published and tweaked to further level the playing field in an effort to continue to encourage new teams to enter and retain the challenge for the regular teams who compete annually.

This year pit-to-driver radio communication will no longer be allowed, a decision which falls in line with the regulations that prevail in the annual Sodi World Series Finals, which Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship winners qualify for each year.

Another change to regulations is that so called 'professional' drivers will not be allowed to be part of corporate teams - previously corporate teams were allowed to field one 'wildcard' driver in their line-up who did not work for the company.

Kartdrome manager Ryan Truch commented, "The Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship driven by Mini is one of the premier series of its kind in the world. Our goal is to create and maintain a level playing field for all teams, within the good spirit of the each race and of course the entire championship."

"Another objective is to provide new challenges to teams and create a competitive environment for racing of the highest level. The emphasis is on attracting a good balance of professional, semi-pro, amateur and corporate teams to the series. We have achieved this last year and with Mini again on board, for which we are most grateful, we are confident there will be growth this year too."

Dubai based CG Racing were dominant in the 2013 edition of the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship driven by Mini, ending the season champions in all three categories: Pro, Corporate and Nations Cup - an unprecedented achievement by a single team.

This season the four rounds will be held on different track configurations of the Kartdrome, and over varying race distances.

On 20-21 February the 2014 series begins with the Kartdrome 12 Hours, which is followed by the Kartdrome 600 Laps on 2-3 May, round three will be the Kartdrome 700 Kilometres on 17-18 October and the grand finale will be the Kartdrome 24 Hours on 5-6 December.
