In Short...

MICHELISZ: I WANT TO IMPROVE FURTHER
Norbert Michelisz faces his fifth full season in the FIA World Touring Car Championship and the second at the wheel of a Honda Civic car run by Zengö Motorsport.

Michelisz is one of touring car’s emerging talents. He moved to WTCC after only a couple of season in the SEAT Eurocup, scoring three race wins (in three different cars), winning the 2012 Yokohama Trophy and finishing twice sixth in the Drivers’ Championship (2012 and 2013).

What do you think about the new technical regulations that mark a major change for WTCC?
“It will be interesting to drive a more challenging car. And from the spectators point of view, the cars are not only faster, but look much sexier and more aggressive. From my personal point of view, the key factor is to keep racing in WTCC as cost effective as in the previous years.”

BORKOVIĆ ATTENDS PETROL PUMP
WTCC newcomer Dušan Borković recently spent one day attending a NIS Petrol station in his home town, Panchevo.

Serbia’s national oil and gas company NIS (Naftna Industrija Srbije), Borković’s main sponsor, asked the driver to act as a pump attendant during the launch of the new Euro BMB 98 petrol with local motorists.

“I’m glad that this high-performance petrol is now available in Serbia, especially because it is produced by a modern refinery located in Panchevo. As a racing car driver, I know the importance of a quality petrol for the final success,” said Borković who is facing his maiden WTCC season in a Campos Racing RML-built Cruze car.

CORONEL UNVEILS THE NEW CORVETTE
Now that Tom Coronel has shifted to the RML-built Cruze for the 2014 FIA World Touring Car Championship he has become a member of the Chevrolet family in the Netherlands.

Therefore he was invited to unveil the new Corvette during the launch of the American car, in which he was joined by popular Dutch singer Miss Montreal.

Just before the launch, Coronel had visited the RML factory to watch how the building of the 2014 racing car is progressing: “I was impressed! This is serious stuff! You can see everywhere that they are really professionals. I also sat together with ROAL Motorsport’s principal Roberto Ravaglia and my new team-mate Tom Chilton. We are very much looking forward to the first race!” he said.

HUFF ON THE PODIUM ONCE AGAIN
Rob Huff claimed another podium in a long distance race, as he finished second last Sunday in the LMPC class and tenth overall in the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Huff shared the 8Star Motorsports Oreca FLM09 prototype, powered by a Chevrolet engine, with team principal Enzo Potolicchio, Tom Kimber-Smith and Mike Marshal.

The team managed to recover after a gearbox failure that forced them to miss Thursday’s qualifying session and a collision in Friday’s practice that required extensive repairs. Although they started from the back of the field, the trio elbowed their way up the field and climbed to fourth in the LMPC class.
