Abarth In Leading Role In The New Formula 4 Aci-Csai Championship

Abarth reinforces its presence in motor sports with a 2014 season marked by great commitment and development, holding firm to its tradition. The Abarth brand has always been a byword for accessible racing and represents the springboard into professional racing for many young people.

Marco Magnanini - Head of EMEA Abarth Brand - stressed this at Modena, on the occasion of the presentation of the Aci-Csai Championships and prizegiving for the victorious racers, in the presence of Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of the Automobile Club d'Italia.

This event marked the consolidation of the Group's presence in racing, since Abarth responded enthusiastically to the new Italian Formula 4 Championship, which sees the Scorpion once more in the world of 'open-wheelers'. Key player in the thrilling sports adventure is the new Formula 4 single-seater designed to allow young, over-15 drivers who've shown what they're made of in go karts to get started in a new, highly formative vehicle.

As 'Technical Partner', Abarth offers its 1.4-litre turbo T-Jet engine with 160 HP, ideal for making a high-performance racer of this single-seater, complying with FIA specifications for over-15 drivers.

In the 1.4 T-Jet, the Fire engine is teamed with a low-inertia turbocharger, which permits excellent performance even at low revs. Naturally, the power unit has been "tweaked" in terms of performance for the single-seaters, resulting in impressive values: maximum of 160 HP at 5500 rpm and maximum torque of 240 Nm at 3500 rpm.

"Our participation in the Italian F4 Championship," explains Marco Magnanini, "is the continuation of a journey that began at a time when the Abarth brand made racing accessible to all and the Abarth 500 was the springboard into a career in racing."

And again today, the Abarth 500 - in its 500 Assetto Corse and 695 Assetto Corse versions - is the ideal car for those who want to put themselves to the test in highly spectacular and competitive championships like the Trofeo Abarth Selenia Europa and Trofeo Abarth Selenia Italia, which saw the participation of more than 150 drivers in 50 races in 5 different national and international championships last season. The event in Modena was also the occasion to present prizes to those young drivers, like Alex Campani, who triumphed in the Trofeo Abarth Selenia Europa and Trofeo Abarth Selenia Italia at the wheel of his Abarth 695 Assetto Corse.

Collaboration with Aci-Csai is also manifested through collaboration with the Federal Driving School, which uses Abarth 500s to train the drivers of the future.
