24H Series Powered By Dunlop Continues: Inaugural Dunlop 12H Italy-Mugello On March 14 And 15

After the highly successful season opener, the Dunlop 24H DUBAI, teams and drivers will gather at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello in the rolling hills of Tuscany in Italy for the next round of this year’s 24H SERIES powered by Dunlop: the inaugural Dunlop 12H ITALY-MUGELLO, to be held on March 14 and 15. While over 50 teams already have registered to participate in this endurance race for GTs, touring cars and 24H Specials, the closing date for early entries is on February 14, so everyone interested in racing at Mugello still has ten days to benefit from the reduced early entry fee of 3,500 Euros per car. After that date, the entry fee is 4,500 Euros per car. Regulations and classes are identical as for the Dunlop 24H DUBAI.

“We presented our plans for the inaugural Dunlop 12H ITALY-MUGELLO during the ‘Professional MotorSport World Expo’ in Cologne in November last year and we immediately got great feedback from many teams and drivers,” says Gerrie Willems on behalf of CREVENTIC, promoters and organisers of the race in co-operation with DNRT. “We opted for the date on the third weekend of March to enable all the teams and drivers to rack up some serious competition mileage before the action in most European race series starts. At this time of year, the weather in Tuscany usually is already fine, so everybody can have a good weekend there.”

This year, the ‘Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello’ is celebrating its 40th anniversary as a permanent circuit, but, of course, racing heritage in Tuscany goes back much longer. The first road-races already were held there in the 1920s. The current Mugello circuit, well-known as the venue for the annual Italian round of the MotoGP series, is a state-of-the-art facility with plenty of undulation, numerous opportunities for overtaking and challenging corners. The beautiful landscape of Tuscany serves as a breath-taking backdrop. During the Dunlop 12H ITALY-MUGELLO, refuelling will be done with standard commercial fuel pumps. This hired temporary fuel station is another service of Creventic, meaning that teams will not have to bring their own refuelling systems. Dunlop is not only the title sponsor, but also the exclusive tyre partner of the event.

Over 50 pre-entries including recent Dubai and Barcelona race winners

With Swiss teams Stadler Motorsport, running a Porsche 911 GT3 R, and Hofor Racing, competing with a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, the winning teams from the most recent editions of the Dunlop 24H DUBAI and the 24H BARCELONA have already entered for the Dunlop 12H ITALY-MUGELLO. Other interesting entries include Dutch team, V8 Racing, fastest qualifiers at Dubai with their Chevrolet Corvette, and eight different teams in the Porsche Cup category. Of course, Italian sports cars like the Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 are on the entry list, too. As usual, the touring car categories provide plenty of variety with teams running BMW, SEAT, Volkswagen, Renault, Mazda and Mini.

Track action starts on Friday, March 14, with free practice from 9.30 till 10.45 hrs and qualifying from 11.00 till 12.30 hrs. The first part of the race will be held on Friday from 14.00 till 17.00 hrs, after which parc fermé rules apply. The race resumes on Saturday, March 15, at 9.30 hrs and continues until 18.30 hrs, immediately followed by the prize-giving ceremony.
