The mechanics tweaked the engine mapping between driver swaps to try and monitor fuel usage.

2012 British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden (Flash) arrived in Australia for the first time yesterday and got his first look at the Mountain today.

“It’s a great opportunity to race an iconic race track in an iconic British sports car. Today in practice the c ar felt very balanced, which is a great starting point. There’s a lot to learn around here but it’s coming quickly. I'm looking forward to getting back out there" Said Shedden.

“It was great to get out on the track today for the first time this year. I’m looking forward to taking on the mountain. After coming so close last year, i’m ready for the challenge” Said driver Pete Storey.

"It’s f**king hot!" Said driver Ben Gower.

Shedden put in a 2:23 lap putting the Compareinsurance.com.au team in the second fastest in their class with only 4 laps in the car.

Feeding from Flash, drivers Pete Storey and Ben Gower picked up their pace over the session.

With two more sessions today the times are sure to tumble as they get more seat time.

The Compareinsurance.com.au Motionsport Lotus Exige will compete in Class C (GT4), where the squad hope to bring back the silverware after coming so close to victory last year.
