Geico Honda Pros Hahn, Tomac Hope Move East Resets Their Fortunes

Champion racers Eli Tomac and Wil Hahn of the vaunted GEICO Honda team were expecting big things in their inaugural season aboard 450s. The duo entered the year with new 250 titles in hand, Tomac's in motocross action and Hahn's from Supercross, but so far neither has been able to showcase their incredible talents to their satisfaction.

Together they hope to break through at this Saturday's race at AT&T Stadium in the Dallas suburb of Arlington, Texas, the seventh of 17 stops on the Monster Energy Supercross tour.

"I'm ready," said Tomac, who missed the first four races of the season with a shoulder contusion that weakened his arm. "We finished seventh last weekend in San Diego in just my second race, so that was pretty good. The strength in my arm is almost 100 percent, and I think we're closing in on the perfect setup for this Honda 450 CFR.

"I see the speed and pace it requires to run up front and contest the podium and I believe we're very close. Obviously, the season hasn't started the way we had hoped, but I guess we should be thankful the injury wasn't worse. I plan to race for a long time, so you have to expect the occasional injury. There really isn't a good time for things like that to happen. All you can do is move forward.

"It's important to race hard from here on in. GEICO, Honda, AMSOIL, Muscle Milk, and Alpine Stars have offered such great support throughout and I want to show them my appreciation. The best way to do that in this sport is to win races."

For Hahn, who lives in nearby Denton, Texas, the Dallas race is a homecoming, which he hopes will help him return to top form. Currently 10th in the championship rankings, Hahn missed last Saturday's race with a hand injury that hampered his ability to hold onto his bike. The injury occurred two weeks ago in Anaheim, Calif.

"It's still sore and in hindsight I probably should have taken all of last week off to let it rest, but I tried to race and ended up banging it again in the last practice session," Hahn said. "I'm doing all I can and I think I'll be ready to race. This is home for me, so it's a big deal in that regard.

"I was really pleased with my progress in the first four races, and I'd like to return to where I was coming out of Oakland (Calif.). I'm definitely more comfortable now. It takes a few races to figure out that you belong at this level."
