2013 V8 Utes Audience Approaches 8 Million Viewers


The Australian V8 Ute Racing Series delivered its strongest ever television audience in 2013, with a 5% increase in viewer numbers over the 2012 figures.

A combination of 14 live races from V8 Supercar events, and a 1 hour post produced programme for each round aired on the SEVEN Network, with replays on SPEED Channel, helped deliver a total audience of 7.8 million viewers for the season.

Five of the eight round series, delivered a combined live and post event viewing audience of over 1 million viewers for each round, cementing the V8 Ute Series as the most popular support category at V8 Supercar Championship events.

The V8 Ute television package is also distributed internationally to over 40 countries and 80 territories, including NZ, Europe and the USA.

After first joining the series in 2009, 2013 naming rights partner ARMOR ALL will not renew its naming rights association in 2014; however will remain a primary partner. The 2014 naming rights opportunity includes branding on the windscreen strips of all 32 Utes, and many other leverage opportunities on the V8 Supercar Championship programme.

Amanda Shaw, Senior Brand Manager - ARMOR ALL, is looking forward to continuing their five year association with the V8 Ute Racing Series.

“The V8 Ute Series has been fantastic for ARMOR ALL in terms of brand awareness and exposure. Having the windscreen signage on all 32 racing Utes was brilliant exposure for the brand, and we are really pleased to continue our involvement with the series in 2014, as a partner to the Driver’s Championship this year.”

The first round of the 2014 V8 Ute Series will be at Adelaide’s Clipsal 500 at the end of the this month. Other V8 Ute rounds include the Perth, Darwin and Townsville V8 Supercar events, Sandown 500, Bathurst 1000, Gold Coast 600 and the Sydney 500 at Sydney Olympic Park.

“Since launching at the Clipsal 500 in 2001, we still can’t believe how popular the V8 Ute series is, and as the ratings prove; it’s getting stronger every year. The series offers a fantastic branding opportunity, directly aimed at heartland Australia, as everybody loves the iconic Aussie V8 Ute. Exit polls and ratings continue to prove the popularity of the series, and along with the V8 Supercar Championship Series, we are in for another great year,” explained V8 Ute Category Manager, SPHERIX’S Craig Denyer.

The ARMOR ALL driver’s championship will kick into action at Round 1 of the 2014 Australian V8 Ute Racing Series in just two weeks’ time, 27th February – 2 March at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.
