Antonelli The Fastest Man Over The Three Days Of Testing At Valencia

The Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3 has been an absolute protagonist in all three days of testing at Valencia. After topping the time sheets in the first two days, today Niccolò Antonelli was again among the leaders with the fourth fastest time, 1’40”127, despite having completed only a few laps following a ‘highside’ in the morning. However, the time obtained yesterday by the 17-year-old Italian - 1’39”454 - remained undefeated, so “Nicco” remained the fastest over the three days of testing.

Antonelli’s teammate, Enea Bastianini, was also involved in a crash in the last corner of the track, after which he was unable to continue the test. The 16-year-old rookie from Rimini has therefore completed only 28 laps with a best time of 1’40”722, the 13th on today’s time sheets, but still maintain the eighth position in the combined classification over the 3 days.

Now the Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3 is ready to move to Jerez, where three more days of testing are scheduled from 18th to 20th of February.

"I’m disappointed about the fall: it was very windy this morning, I went on the dirt and as soon as I accelerated the bike launched me with a 'highside'. It was my mistake, I could definitely be more careful, but the wind certainly did not help me. After the fall I lost a lot of time, because at first I was not remembering anything of what happened, so they took me to the Medical Center. The important thing however is that now I'm fine: in the afternoon I went back to the track and although I was not in great shape I could set the second best lap time of the afternoon session, so for today it’s okay. Now we are already focused on the next test in Jerez”.

ENEA BASTIANINI (1'40"722 - 34 LAPS)
“While I was running in today’s second practice session, in the last corner, also because of the strong wind, the front end 'closed' and I slipped. Unfortunately, following the fall the bike was really damaged and therefore I was not able to continue testing, losing the rest of the day. This is the first mistake in six days of tests, between Almeria and Valencia, but of course I would rather avoid it: I was plannign to try some new parts, but we'll do it next week. Jerez is a circuit I like and we are already well under way with bike set-up, so I hope to continue to stay in the top positions”.

FABRIZIO CECCHINI (Technical Coordinator)
“Today, the strong wind has been annoying our riders; it was a pity mostly because both riders had a great desire to continue to work on their bikes and the falls prevented them from carrying out any program. However, we are very pleased with the outcome of these three days: Niccolò has been the fastest in the combined classification, so it could not get any better than that, while Enea impressed by closing eighth overall over the three days, the first of the rookies. We still have much work to do for the forthcoming Jerez test: regarding Antonelli, we will focus on weights balance, trying a different positioning of the ballast, in order to find the ideal balance; with Bastianini we will try to continue with the good work done so far”.
