The first official charitable partner of the Shannons Nationals, the CCA will be supported at all Nationals events throughout 2014 with the series working to raise awareness, funds and support for the cause.

The series will include Association branding in key locations, utilise its extensive TV package to raise awareness of the cause and work with a network of more than 10 categories, key promoters and circuits and 500-plus competitors to raise awareness and funds throughout 2014.

The Childhood Cancer Association provides ongoing and practical hands on support for children living with cancer and their families. The support is delivered via a range of services including peer & family support, sibling support, free accommodation to country families, respite accommodation, financial assistance, educational assistance and bereavement services.

The Childhood Cancer Association receives no ongoing government funding an therefore relies solely on the generous support of the community, to enable it to continue to provide vital services and support to families in need.

The Association has nine dedicated staff working with the assistance of volunteers to provide year-round support.

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia racer Sam Power serves as an ambassador for the Association and the Shannons Nationals will work with Sam at key rounds this year to further the cause.

“The Shannons Nationals has been looking for an organisation like the Childhood Cancer Association for several years, and we are proud to associate with them as our first step into supporting the broader community,” said Shannons Nationals manager Liam Curkpatrick.

“The Childhood Cancer Association provides real, tangible support to children and their families in need and we think the Shannons Nationals has the ability to enhance this – not just in raising awareness and funds amongst our many hundreds of competitors and our extensive supporter base, but in having the ability to offer incredible experience for these kids and their families that they can’t get elsewhere.

“We are going to open the door to the Shannons Nationals for these people and invite them in to be part of our rounds and give them an experience that they will never forget.”

The Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals are currently planning their first key step towards supporting the Childhood Cancer Foundation at the series official media launch, to be held at Sandown Raceway on March 27.
