Daytona Heartache for Justin Boston

Justin Boston wasn't the only contender who dealt with more Daytona heartache this week, where his run for the checkered flag unfortunately ended well before the finish line.

It didn't take long after the green flag waved for the fierce pack-style racing to rear its ugly head, resulting in an early crash that collected Boston and several other top contenders, knocking them out of the race and shaking up 51st Lucas Oil 200 presented by MAVTV American Real.

No.25 ZLOOP Computer and Electronic Recycling- JACO Environmental driver Justin Boston finished 40th in Saturday afternoon's ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Boston performed strongly throughout much of the weekend before a multi-car crash at Daytona heavily damaged his ZLOOP Toyota.

"Daytona was not a week we all would like to remember, and I don't plan to," the Baltimore, Md., native said. "The ZLOOP- JACO Environmental Toyota was so fast, but we got caught up in someone else's mess."

Fewer than 13 laps into the first race of the 2014 ARCA Racing Series season, Boston's No.25 ZLOOP Computer and Electronic Recycling- JACO Environmental Toyota got collected in a multicar accident. The 15-car wreck during the 80-lap event also involved Venturini Motorsports teammate Mark Thompson. Boston nearly avoided the metal melee coming off of Turn 4 when Will Kimmel made hard contact with the left-front nose of Boston's ZLOOP Computer and Electronic Recycling- JACO Environmental Toyota, collecting him on the front stretch.

Following the accident, Boston was taken to the infield medical care center where he was observed and released.

For Boston, it made it zero for two at Daytona after another failed effort in a strong car. The 24-year-old's debut at Daytona a year ago ended with a 31st-place finish, when he was caught in an early-race incident.

The season-opener got off to a bumpy start Friday when three of the top four speeds in pole qualifying were disallowed following post-qualifying inspections, including Boston's third-place time in the session. He was forced to start toward the rear of the field for Saturday's race.

Boston started in the 31st position.

"I can't wait to get to Mobile (International Speedway) in the next few weeks and get the season restarted on a better note," Boston said.

The next event on the ARCA Racing Series schedule is March 22 at Mobile International Speedway in Mobile, Ala.
