Daytona NASCAR Fan Wins First Golden Ticket

When Chris Bonser purchased a die-cast car at the Official Trackside Merchandise Hauler for Danica Patrick on Saturday, he had no idea he’d be the first fan to win a prize in the Lionel Racing Golden Ticket contest.

But when he opened the envelope inside the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS box, the Florida resident and die-cast collector was more than pleasantly surprised.

“Out of all the die-cast that will have Golden Tickets in them, knowing I won and that I am the first one to win is even more awesome,” Bonser said. “I can’t wait to claim my prize!”

The Lionel Racing Golden Ticket Bonser found entitles him to one Lionel NASCAR Train Set.

His is one of more than 730 Golden Tickets that Lionel Racing – The Official Die-Cast of NASCAR – has randomly inserted inside 2014 1:24 scale die-cast boxes. Folks who find one of these tickets could win incredible prizes like driver meet and greets, private race shop tours, race-used sheet metal, die-cast cars, and more.

Die-cast with a Lionel Racing Golden Ticket inside can potentially be found at www.lionelracing.com; the NASCAR.com Superstore; official trackside merchandise haulers; race team shops; authorized dealers and approved online retailers. The contest will run through the end of the 2014 season.

“We’re thrilled to kick off the year by announcing our first contest winner,” said Howard Hitchcock, SVP and General Manager of Lionel Racing.

“Congratulations to Chris and good luck to all the fans who are hoping to win. It’s pretty exciting to think that more than 700 fans will win prizes this season.”

To continue the Golden Ticket contest celebration, the Lionel Racing team will also be on the Daytona midway this weekend to give fans the “golden carpet” treatment.

Fans who stop by the Lionel Racing Golden Ticket Tent before the NASCAR Nationwide Series™ and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™ races on February 22 and 23 can pose for a free celebrity-style photo shoot with their choice of race-themed backdrops and props, and then go home with a printed strip of their photos to boot.

“Without our fans and customers, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to do what we do and this year, we want fans to know just how much they’re appreciated. What better way to do that than to make them feel like celebrities at the biggest race weekend of the year?” said Hitchcock.
