Juncos Racing Adds Pitfit Training To Its Driver Development Program

PitFit Training is the nation’s leading fitness program specializing in the development of top-notch race car drivers. President and founder Jim Leo’s clientele includes Indy 500 winners Sam Hornish Jr. (2006), Scott Dixon (2007), and Dario Franchitti (2008)—who were all active members of PitFit during their winning seasons.

PitFit Training builds its individualized training programs around the key elements of top sports performance— strength, flexibility, nutrition, stamina, reaction, and focus. Athletes improve their muscle strength and endurance with intensive weight lifting regimens. As a result, drivers are better prepared for races of various distances and difficulty. To maintain top aerobic endurance, PitFit Training provides a range of aerobic activities including cycling, running, and swimming. Equally as important as muscle strength and aerobic fitness, flexibility also plays an important role in the workout program. With the practice of yoga and regular isolated stretching, athletes achieve an optimal level of flexibility. Simulating drills allow drivers to keep their visual and motor reaction times sharp and quick. Finally, rounding out the program is the focus on nutrition. PitFit Training has registered dieticians on staff to guide athletes in the right direction.

Juncos Racing team owner Ricardo Juncos has worked with some of the most renowned drivers in the Pro Mazda Championship series, including Connor de Phillippi, Diego Ferreira, Peter Dempsey, and Conor Daly. Juncos’ continual success on the track was built by talented drivers; further, these talented drivers reached optimal performance following a valuable program—more specifically, the Juncos Driver Development Program. Designed by Ricardo himself, the Juncos Driver Development Program gives young drivers the necessary tools needed to ensure a bright future in racing. One of its six components stresses the importance of physical fitness; therefore, all Juncos Racing drivers receive access to Leo’s PitFit Driver Training program throughout the season. Not only does Ricardo Juncos provide his athletes with a solid foundation onto which they can build and grow, but he also gives them the opportunity to train with the nation’s best fitness program for race car drivers. Assuring all essential bases are covered, Juncos Racing sets its drivers up for success.

"It is an honor for us to have PitFit Training as a partner," stated Juncos. "Physical fitness is one of the six components of our Driver Development Program, and PitFit [Training] gives our drivers the opportunity to experience one of the best physical fitness programs [for race car drivers] in the country." Juncos, who has worked with PitFit Training in the past, has always appreciated the noticeable passion he exudes in his craft. Relating to the fitness expert’s work ethic, Juncos mentions, "I have known Jim Leo for many years and admire the dedication he puts into his program. So, with his passion for helping young drivers strive to become better athletes, I know his program will be a major asset to our team."
