Hawkei Delivers Hard Core Safety For V8 Ute Season Opener

The 2014 V8 Ute Racing Series will come under guard with Thales’s, Australian made light, protected military vehicle, the Hawkei, stepping up as naming rights partner for Round 1 of the Series at the Clipsal 500, Adelaide this weekend (27th February - 2nd March).

Named after one of Australia’s (and the worlds) toughest and most deadly snakes, the Hawkei has the strength, speed and agility for operations in the harshest conditions.

Built strong to save lives, the Hawkei is manufactured by the same company that makes the iconic Australian Bushmaster. Built in Bendigo in regional Victoria, the Bushmaster has been protecting Australian diggers in Afghanistan and Iraq, and saved hundreds of lives.

All 32 V8 Utes will carry the Hawkei branding on their windscreens and the vehicle will be on display in the V8 Ute paddock.

V8 Utes Category manager, SPHERIX’S Bill West, is excited Hawkei will have a bigger presence in the Series.

"It's great news that the Thales Group are stepping up for this round, with a major awareness campaign for the Hawkei. The Clipsal 500 is one of Australia’s benchmark motorsport events and fans over the weekend will get too see what Australian military technology is capable of building, with Hawkei on display as you enter the V8 Ute paddock area.”

The Thales Group joined the series late last year and is proud to have its Hawkei brand taking a primary position at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

The series will begin the season opener tomorrow at 9am with a practice session.
