Hahn Humming Along On His GEICO Honda; Tomac On Verge Of Big Race

GEICO Honda riders Wil Hahn and Eli Tomac are expecting big things when the race for the 450 class hardware takes place Saturday in Indiana with the ninth stop of the 2014 Supercross season.

Currently ninth in the world rankings, Hahn is fresh off his best outing of the year in Atlanta, where he finished fourth overall in the sport's top category. Considering he missed a couple of races with a hand injury, Hahn believes the second half of the season could feature a sharp rise in his overall performance and position in the championship chase.

"After the race I had in Atlanta, I am not going to change a thing this week," said Hahn, who won last year's 250SX East title. "I had some of my best starts ever in Georgia and that was the difference. I'll keep working on that to stay sharp.

"I am very happy with the results and progress my team and I are making. We had this big jump towards the front of the pack, and now I want to prove it wasn't a one-race deal. I feel like I belong up there.

"Moving to 450 has been a big adjustment and a lot of it is in between your ears. You have to ride a few races before you realize, 'Hey, I can do this. I belong.' I feel like I'm there now, and when you have a race like Atlanta it only boosts your confidence."

Slowed by a shoulder injury early in the season and a concerted search for the ideal setup for his GEICO Honda ever since his return, Tomac says he's on the cusp of delivering big results on his CRF.

"I feel like I'm getting very close to a breakout ride," Tomac said. "Practice and heat races are improving every weekend for me. I'm just going to focus on putting it all together for the main event.

"I've had a couple races, including last weekend in Atlanta, where I felt like I was going to have a great result but weird little things have held us back. I bent my bars last week in the main and just couldn't finish the race. I had a flat tire a few races back. It's all part of racing but, man, it's frustrating. All you can do is stay after it and the tide will eventually turn. I really think that could happen this weekend in Indy."

Live coverage of this race begins at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, on Fox Sports 1.
