Sieders Slides to V8 Ute Pole Start at the Clipsal 500

David “Sideways” Sieders will start from Pole today for Race 1 of the 2014 Australian V8 Ute Racing Series – protected by HAWKEI Sieders claimed second place at the end of the session yesterday, but following post judicial hearings due to kerb hopping at turn 2, 14 drivers lost their fastest time including Nathan Pretty who initially set the fastest time, 8/100ths ahead of Sieders, but will now start from 12th position on the grid.

Sieders will start alongside Kris Walton on the front-row, claiming his fourth Clipsal ARMOR ALL Pole Award in 5 years walking away with the $1,000 cash. Adelaide’s Craig Dontas and reigning champ Ryal Harris will start from the second row, ahead of young guns Jesse Dixon and Adam Marjoram.

“It pays to do more than one lap and Nathan only did one lap and got caught out, so I’m over the moon.” said Sieders.

Noel Edge, Ryan Hansford, Stephen White, Cam Wilson, Rhys McNally, Jordan Skinner, Grant Johnson, Jesse Dixon, Gerard McLeod, Jeremy Gray and Ben Dunn all lost their fastest times. Dunn had power steering issues, and only did one lap, which was unfortunately deducted, so he will start from the rear of the grid.

Wilson and Skinner have withdrawn from the weekend following the incident on the final 2 minutes of yesterday’s session.

The pair came together after Skinner slowed to make a late entry into pit lane, baulking Wilson who was on a flyer. The rear of Wilson’s Ford stepped out under brakes, slamming hard into the right rear corner of the Ross Almond owned Holden. Both utes were extensively damaged and will not take part for the rest of the weekend, drivers were taken to the medical centre following the incident but were deemed OK.

Race 1 will also be televised on Network Seven (check local guides).
