Peyton Saxton Second at Havasu 95 Speedway

Las Vegas racer Peyton Saxton started second in the 25-lap INEX Legends Pro Division feature on Sunday at Havasu 95 Speedway, took the lead on lap three and appeared headed to victory until he slipped in some oil in turn one on a late race restart and got out of shape, allowing the second place car to nose him out in a drag race to the finish line. Peyton wound up second.

Peyton was disappointed after the event, but not dismayed.

"This weekend was crazy," the driver/crew chief said. "We got here Friday and ran fastest in practice before it rained. We were fastest in Saturday practice as well but it rained again. We qualified second later that day just a few hundredths of a second off the pole. Then today we went out and led most of the race before I got in that oil and had to basically dirt-track it through the corner. I just couldn't quite get back in front there. I really enjoy this track though and we ran really well all weekend."

The race wasn't originally on Peyton's schedule, but a couple of the racers whose cars he maintains during the week decided they wanted to run. Peyton was happy for the decision.

"Oh, I'm really glad we made the trip," he nodded. "The weather wasn't so good but we had a lot of fun as a team and had a couple of second place finishes. Obviously you don't like to lose a race like that, because of oil on the track, but there's no sense getting crazy about it because there's nothing you can do. I was just thankful to have saved it for third. I can't thank my team and my sponsors enough for all they do for me."

This weekend will find Peyton back at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway, chasing a win in the finale' of their winter series as he tries to add yet another championship to his impressive resume.

About Peyton Saxton

Peyton Saxton is a 15-year-old racer from Las Vegas, NV with just a couple of seasons of racing under his belt but a whole lot to show for his short time behind the wheel.

In 2013, Peyton was the INEX Legends Young Lions champion at the famed Las Vegas Bullring, the Battle of the Big Top Series champion, the INEX Road Course World Finals Champion and he was awarded the INEX Z-Max Touring Series Champion for earning the most regional race wins.

He was also the 2012 and 2013 Nevada State Young Lions asphalt and road course champion!

Peyton's quick study of the mechanical/crew chief side of racing has led him to start his own setup and trackside assistance company, Third Generation Racing where his "teammates" have accumulated several podium finishes already.

He was recognized by the recently completed Silver State Road Course series as its' Mechanic of the Series - the first time this honor has ever gone to a mechanic under the age of 18.

For 2014 Peyton is racing in the INEX Legends Pro division for the first time and is also exploring options to get "seat time" in a Late Model at some point during the season.

Peyton's coaching and promotion is provided by Team Full Throttle of Charlotte, N.C.
