Ombra Racing Open Their Season With A Podium Finish In Le Castellet

Ombra Racing couldn't have hoped for a better start to their 2014 season. In Round 2 of the GT Open Winter Series, held last weekend at the renowned Circuit Paul Ricard, the Italian team clinched their first podium finish this year, as Mario Cordoni and Stefano Gattuso crossed the line in second place at the end of Race 2.

After some hard-fought 23 laps, the Italian duo finished just four tenths shy of the winning car, proving that Ombra is already in top-runner form even so early in the season.

The good pace of the blue-liveried Ferraris was confirmed in the qualifying sessions as well, as the #63 car driven by Matteo Cairoli and Marco Magli closed Q1 in third place, just a few hundredths ahead of Gattuso-Cordoni on the #62 458 GT3.

Davide Mazzoleni (Team Manager): "I'm really delighted. We went to Paul Ricard just to warm-up before the start of the real season, and to give Stefano and Mario the chance to debut as a duo in perfect situation, completely free from any pressure. We come back knowing that we have an impressive race pace, that our two drivers work really well as a team, and that the job we did during the winter brought us a step forward. Now we'll analyse the data we collected in Le Castellet, as we already have some new ideas on how to further improve our cars. There's a lot of work to do before Round 1 in Nurburgring".
