Texas Motor Speedway Speed Reads For Week Of 3/3/14

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick, the winners of the first two races of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, will get a double dose of racing action at Texas Motor Speedway during the upcoming Duck Commander 500 doubleheader weekend. The duo will team up to compete for JR Motorsports in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race on the evening of Friday, April 4,and then for their respective Sprint Cup teams in the Duck Commander 500 on Sunday, April 6.

Earnhardt Jr., who won the season-opening Daytona 500 with Hendrick Motorsports, and Harvick, who earned his first win with his new organization Stewart-Haas Racing this past Sunday at Phoenix, will look to duplicate last year's historic feat by Kyle Busch. Last April, Busch became the first driver in speedway history to sweep both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series races in the same weekend.

The addition of Earnhardt Jr. and Harvick to Nationwide Series regulars Regan Smith and rookie Chase Elliott will mark the first time in the history of JR Motorsports that the organization will field four entries.

For Earnhardt Jr. and Harvick, pulling double duty is nothing new to the veteran drivers. They have combined to compete in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300/Duck Commander 500 double dip 11 times, with Harvick doing so on seven occasions and Earnhardt Jr. adding the other four.

Both own Nationwide Series wins at Texas Motor Speedway, but few have dominated like Harvick. He owns five career victories along with 12 top-10 finishes, including seven among the top five, in 15 career starts. Harvick, however, still is seeking his first win at Texas Motor Speedway in the Sprint Cup Series.

Earnhardt Jr. secured his first career Nationwide Series victory at Texas Motor Speedway in 1998 and owns four top-10 finishes in six career starts. He also has visited Victory Lane in Sprint Cup competition at Texas Motor Speedway, winning in 2000.

Earnhardt Jr. and Harvick will be attempting the double for the second consecutive year and both will be looking to improve their Sprint Cup performances in particular. Last April, Earnhardt Jr. finished fourth in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 followed by 29th in the NRA 500. Harvick finished fifth and 13th, respectively.

Fans can watch as the two superstars go for the weekend sweep by purchasing tickets for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 and Duck Commander 500 by calling the Texas Motor Speedway ticket office at (817) 215-8500 or by visiting www.texasmotorspeedway.com.

'Big Hoss TV' Adds Personality

The world's largest HD video board will add some personality when "Big Hoss TV" makes its debut during the Duck Commander 500 weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

Former Miss Sprint Cup Paige Duke and Jon Wilson will serve as the on-camera talent for "Big Hoss TV" during the 2014 season at "The Great American Speedway!" The duo will keep the fans entertained and updated on all the activities during race weekends with Duke reporting on competition and Wilson engaging with race fans.

Duke, who graduated magna cum laude with a degree in animal science from Clemson University, has a vast knowledge of NASCAR from her time as Miss Sprint Cup. She served as the brand ambassador for Sprint and the company's sponsorship of the series, appearing on radio and television broadcasts, interviewing drivers and celebrities, interacting with race fans and emceeing major events. Following her tenure as Miss Sprint Cup, she has gone on to appear in the second and third seasons of CMT's reality show "Sweet Home Alabama."

Wilson is a morning show reporter for WCCB-TV in Charlotte who also serves as the video board talent for Charlotte Motor Speedway. His expansive media career includes stops at Charlotte radio stations WBT 1110 AM, 1065 The End and 99.7 The Fox - home of the popular syndicated show, John Boy & Billy. Prior to his venture into television, Wilson served as the emcee at the Team Lowe's Fan Experience.

Texas Motor Speedway Carries Klout

Texas Motor Speedway is leading the way when it comes to the power of social media as it holds the highest Klout Score of any track in NASCAR. Texas Motor Speedway currently owns a Klout Score of 85 and paces three Speedway Motorsports, Inc. tracks among the top five. SMI's Sonoma Raceway, with a score of 82, sits third behind Pocono Raceway (83) while SMI's Kentucky Speedway (81) is tied for fourth with Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

A Klout Score - a number between 1-100 - is indicative of the social media influence one has among its followers. Influence is measured by the ability to drive action from social media accounts.

Texas Motor Speedway has taken a proactive role when it comes to social media, engaging with fans through the platforms to directly inform and answer their questions. Texas Motor Speedway's Twitter account (@TXMotorSpeedway) has 47,600 followers while its Facebook Fan Page has garnered more than 94,500 likes.
Harlem Globetrotters Announce Slam-Dunk Lineup

The "No Limits" Garage Party presented by WinStar World Casino & Resort held prior to the Duck Commander 500 will be headlined by the world's most famous basketball team, the Harlem Globetrotters. The Globetrotters line-up will feature Buckets Blakes, Hi-Lite Bruton, Moose Weekes, Too Tall Hall and Scooter Christensen.

Blakes and Bruton are the seasoned veterans of the group as they are currently in their 12th and 13th seasons, respectively, with the Globetrotters. Both individuals have become fan favorites over the years with their hilarious personalities and interactions with the crowd. Bruton, at 6 feet, 7 inches, is known for his high-flying dunks ever since winning the 1994 College Slam Dunk Contest as a senior at Benedict College.

Weekes and Hall are two of the newest additions to the Globetrotters, but bring two very different styles. The 6-foot-8 Weekes got his nickname "Moose" because he has been told his hair looks like moose antlers when he flies through the air on his way to the rim. Hall, on the other hand, is the shortest player in Harlem Globetrotters history at 5 foot, 2 inches.

Christensen has become a star with the Globetrotters over his nine seasons and considered as one of the premier ball handlers. A point guard by trade, Christensen is an expert dribbler with a knack for making incredible assists. Christensen also holds the Guinness World Record for the longest duration of spinning a basketball on a nose after performing the stunt for 5.1 seconds.

The "No Limits" Garage Party presented by WinStar World Casino & Resort is exclusive to season ticket holders. Fans can enjoy all the excitement by purchasing season tickets that start as low as $270. Season-ticket packages offer exclusive incentives including discounts on concession items, merchandise, pit passes and parking as well as access to the "No Limits" Garage Party presented by WinStar World Casino & Resort.
