Momentum Motorsports Expands for 2014 F2000 Season

Momentum Motorsports has expanded for the 2014 F2000 Championship Series season, opening a new state-of-the-art shop and entering a three-car effort for the season opener at Road Atlanta in April. Aspiring driver Quinlan Lall will be joined by father and Masters Class participant Kem Lall, and a third car will line up under the Momentum awning for Steve Dweck.

The team will move into a new shop before Road Atlanta, having bought a new facility on six acres near Newburgh, New York, off I-84. Momentum aims to expand operations into vintage and club racing, with the ability to support multiple races on the same weekends.

The younger Lall, from Ringwood, New Jersey, has years of karting experience in addition to a 2013 season spent getting acclimated to the Van Diemen and Radon chassis, with the EMRA and FRCCA groups.

"I'm very excited about the up and coming season," said Lall, who will be in the Radon chassis for the year. "I stepped into formula cars at a young age and continue to gain confidence in myself, the team and the car thanks to the amazing support from both my family and Momentum Motorsports. For our debut pro season, I feel that top 10 and top five finishes are within reach. Above all, I would like to consistently score points throughout the season."

Building on Lall's experience, Momentum is expanding its Karts to Cars program – reaching out to talented karting drivers who are looking to make the jump. The team has added a full-time driver recruiter for the 2014 karting season.

Father Kem will participate in his second season of F2000 pro competition, entering a number of races throughout the 2013 campaign with Momentum. Kem will be in a Van Diemen for the 2014 season.

Steve Dweck will be another Masters Class Van Diemen, bringing plenty of SCCA experience to the paddock.

The team continues to talk to other drivers and with a new trailer, awning and added track-side support, has two more Van Diemens in their shop and the ability to easily run more cars.

"We have expanded our capability and operations for 2014 and the F2000 Championship Season," said Phil Picard, team owner. "Our goal remains to provide exceptional service and value. By adding an a 50-foot trailer with full climate controlled living quarters including a new awning, we are providing our drivers with a higher level of trackside comfort to allow them to better focus on their effort.

"We have also increased Momentums stable of cars by adding another Van Diemen as well as the support staff to provide exceptional trackside service," Picard continued. "A full complement of new spares are on board including complete engine and transmission packages to ensure our drivers have every opportunity to complete each event."

Picard hopes Quinlan can realize a top five Championship-effort season.

"His comparative lap times at the same tracks would indicate it's a very realizable goal," added Picard. "He is very disciplined in the car, takes coaching very well and is faster every time he is in the car."

Father Kem moved from a high-horsepower tube-frame sports car to the F2000 Radon, and continues to get acclimated to the open-wheel environment.

"Steve Dweck is professor of the group,'" Picard noted. "After doing a great deal of instruction as Chief Instructor, BMW CCA Patroon Chapter, he returned to an open wheel car in 2013 after a two year absence. He drove well in 2013, tested very well at PBIR, also improving each time he stepped into his car. We expect him to have a very competitive year in the Masters Class as well."

The 14-race, seven-weekend season opens at Road Atlanta, April 11-13.
