Hometown Drivers Want To Win At Kansas Speedway, Ready For Night Race

Race fans aren’t the only ones looking forward to the inaugural NASCAR Sprint Cup Series night race at Kansas Speedway on May 10. Hometown drivers Clint Bowyer and Carl Edwards are just two of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers who can’t wait to be at Kansas Speedway for the first Sprint Cup night race.

“Everybody loves a night race,” said Bowyer. “The cars look cool under the lights, sparks fly and it just adds an extra element of excitement to our program. The cars go faster at night, speed is what we are in the business of doing and I’m telling you business picks up in a big way at night. It’s going to be exciting.”

Edwards echoed Bowyer’s comments, adding, “Visually, it is neat to see a race under the lights, the track lit perfectly, cars on the track, sparks flying. It’s a cool visual experience.”

Another thing Bowyer and Edwards agree on - wanting to win at their home track.

“I want to win at home in the Cup Series more than anything,” said Bowyer. “I won in a truck a couple of years ago and it was so much fun. Doing a burnout there is what you live for, to go back home and race in front of family , friends and grandma always comes and watches, it’s just special.”

“I want to win there as badly as anywhere,” said Edwards. “For me, it would be as big as the Daytona 500. It would be a really fun night if we won that race.”

If fans needed another incentive to purchase a ticket to Kansas Speedway’s night race and root for Edwards, he definitely provided one.

“Kansas is a cool place to go and they (fans) might get to celebrate with me in the grandstands after it is over. They would have a hard time pulling me out of the grandstands.”

Tickets for Kansas Speedway’s 2014 events, including Kansas Speedway’s first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series night race, are currently on sale. To purchase season tickets or single event tickets, call 866-460-RACE (7223) or visit www.kansasspeedway.com. Season ticket holders receive a TrackPass for each NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race day that allows access to the infield for the Kansas Army National Guard Pre-Race activities, including the pre-race concert and driver introductions.

Parking is always free at Kansas Speedway and fans can bring in one 14x14x14-inch soft-sided cooler with their favorite food and beverages.
