2014 Bristol: Brian Scott NASCAR Nationwide Race Preview

This Week's Shore Lodge Chevrolet at Bristol Motor Speedway ... This weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, Brian Scott and the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet Camaro will race chassis No. 101. This chassis will be making its 15th start as part of the Richard Childress Racing stable. With two victories at Phoenix International Raceway and Bristol Motor Speedway in 2012 during both spring races, six top-five and 11 top-10 finishes, this chassis is sure to impress. Scott also dominated the fall Richmond International Raceway race with this chassis capturing the pole and leading 239 of 250 laps finishing the race in second.

The Last Great Colosseum Stats ... Scott will be making his 10th NASCAR Nationwide Series start this weekend in the Drive to Stop Diabetes 300 presented by Lilly Diabetes at Bristol. In nine previous starts, Scott has captured three top-10 finishes with an average start of 12.3 and an average finish of 21.6. Scott earned his best starting position, second, and best finishing position, ninth, last season in the fall race at the 0.533-mile speedway. Scott also has three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at the track.

Shore Lodge Back on Track ... Shore Lodge will serve as the primary sponsor for Scott and the No. 2 team this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. Set on the southern shore of Payette Lake in McCall, Idaho, four seasons of adventure await at this idyllic location. A family favorite since 1948, the travel destination allows guests to enjoy the spectacular views, friendly service and generous accommodations at the lake front resort. Shore Lodge serves as the perfect mixture of adventure and luxury featuring 26 spa adventures, fitness studio, golf privileges at Whitetail Club, jet skiing, and a private beach for guests.

What are your points? ... The No. 2 Shore Lodge team enters Thunder Valley sixth in the Nationwide Series driver point standings.

Rearview Mirror ... Brian Scott qualified fifth for the Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend. The No. 2 Whitetail Chevrolet Camaro battled loose conditions in the opening laps of the event, but never fell outside of the top-10. The Richard Childress Racing team continued to work on the loose conditions during the three pit stops made in Sin City. The hard work paid off for the Camaro team as they gathered a solid foundation for the 1.5-mile program and finished seventh. The finish is the first top-10 of the season for the No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro, moving the team up two positions in the driver point standings to sixth heading into Bristol Motor Speedway.

Are you a fan of short track racing?
"I am, at Bristol we qualified outside pole last year. We had a fast Camaro and I think we have a lot of potential to have really strong runs at Bristol. You also have potential to have something happen and suffer some damage. I think Bristol will be a good place for our Shore Lodge Chevrolet. I'm excited for this short track."

Do you prefer Bristol during the day or night?
"I like it at night. It's just cool racing Bristol under the lights; it's a neat track. Ever since the repave, every time we go there everything is a little bit different. Last year, you couldn't get too close to the wall and the line was as high as I've ever seen it at Bristol. It's been high, but it seemed to be especially high last fall when we raced there. Goodyear is always tweaking the tire compounds to make them better. If they tweak and change them a little bit, everything might change."
