It will be the first time in the 19-year history of the Championship that it has featured in a Live Video Broadcast across the Internet, and will make the action accessible for anyone in the world thanks to the team at My Sport Live.

The vision will be embedded to the Karting Australia (karting.net.au), Stars of Karting (starsofkarting.com.au) and My Sport Live (mysportlive.com.au) websites. It will also be made available on demand following the event.

The international interest in the CIK Stars of Karting Championship will be at an all time high in 2014 and this development is expected to heighten that interest. 2013 saw Dutchman Joey Hanssen take the KZ2 crown when the 2011 World Cup Champion was based in Australia for his campaign. Fellow Dutch driver in Marijn Kremer, who will drive for Patrizicorse, will join Hanssen at the opening round. Karting bosses from the manufacturers throughout the world are also looking to Australia on an increasingly regular basis.

With the opening round of 2014 also being a first for the Championship featuring a unique day/night format over two days, the Finals of the three CIK categories will be held under lights on the Saturday night.

“As a Championship we’re continually investigating ways to further enhance the sport of karting and by working with the team a My Sport Live to produce a Live Broadcast we’re looking forward to taking it to a new level in terms of accessibility,” said Championship Coordinator, Lee Hanatschek.

“By streaming the action from the Finals live across the Internet, it will provide the opportunity for people from all around the world who have an interest in the event, or karting as a whole, to follow the racing as it happens.

“The racing at night should also provide some spectacular vision for those tuning in.”

The team at My Sport Live specialise in providing a huge range of Australian sports, free and live, to provide their viewers with a high quality viewing experience using the latest video technology.

My Sport Live is responsible for the broadcasts from the MX Nationals, Australian Motocross Championship and the FitX Sport and Fitness Expo along with numerous other sporting events across Australia. They also streamed the opening round of the 2014 International Freeride Watercraft Association World Titles last month.

My Sport Live’s Andrew Weiss is excited about the potential of the CIK Stars of Karting Championship.

“Karting is a very exciting sport and we’re really looking forward to being able to showcase the CIK Stars of Karting Championship to viewers all across the globe,” said Weiss.

“Over the past couple of years we’ve worked closely with the MX Nationals and Australian Motocross Championship to expand the interest in their events through our coverage and we look forward to doing the same for karting.”

In addition to the racing from the final day being beamed across the globe, there will also be a special live panel show featuring several Championship drivers on the Friday night following qualifying and the opening heat.

The opening round of the CIK Stars of Karting Championship presented by Castrol EDGE will be hosted by the Ipswich Kart Club on March 28/29. The event will feature three international CIK classes of KZ2, KF2 and KF3 along with the Rookies, TAG 125 Light and Heavy classes. The Restricted 125 class will also be in action.

Practice, qualifying and the opening heat races will be held on Friday March 28 ahead of further heat races on Saturday March 29 with the Finals held throughout the afternoon and evening.
