2014 NHRA: ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Rider Adam Arana Is Ready For His Second Season

With his rookie season a wrap, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana is ready to start his second year on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour this weekend at the 45th annual NHRA Gatornationals, March 13-16 at Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville.

"It's going to be exciting and a lot of fun to get back to Gainesville," Arana said. "I haven't been on my bike since Pomona last year, and I'm dying to get back on it."

The ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Buell rider has high aspirations for his second year in the series. He has his eye on the ultimate win, a championship, positioning himself amongst the leaders in the sport.

"I've got one year under my belt in the Pro Stock Motorcycle series, and I expect to do even better than I did last year," Arana said. "I'm looking to get a couple of wins and put myself in contention for the championship this year. That's what really matters to me, being one of the best in the sport."

Before the youngest Arana can worry about the rest of the season, he has to get through the season opener in Gainesville, but with plenty of off-season work in the books, he thinks he is poised and ready to do so.

"My goal is to stay focused all weekend long and take it one day at a time," Arana said. "I want to qualify well and then move through eliminations and ultimately win the race. With all of the R&D work and race simulations on the practice bike we have done in the off-season, I think this is a highly possible goal to achieve."

Arana will take to the track to start his second season when qualifying begins at noon EDT on Friday and continues that day with another session at 2:15 p.m. Qualifying will wrap up with two sessions at noon and 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Final eliminations for the NHRA Gatornationals start at noon on Sunday. ESPN2 will air the qualifying show at 1 a.m. EDT on Sunday and the eliminations show at 7 p.m.
