Hahn, Tomac Aim For Detroit Podium Aboard GEICO Honda 450 Bikes

GEICO Honda rider Wil Hahn has made steady progress in his rookie 450SX season, yet continues to look for more as the Monster Energy Supercross series heads to Ford Field this weekend.

With top-six finishes in two of his last three races, Hahn can see a podium finish in his immediate future.

"It's there," Hahn said. "I felt strong all night in Daytona, and I've felt strong these last three weekends. For me, it's there, and I need to be able to put myself up there at the beginning to give myself a chance."

Hahn was sixth in Daytona, two races after a career-best fourth, and those represent his two best finishes this season. The key to keep the momentum rolling for Hahn is simple, he said.

"I've got to keep doing what I'm doing at home," Hahn said. "We're doing a really good job building myself into a better rider, so I'm going to keep doing that."

Hahn worked on his starts this week, as Daytona proved to be troublesome. After a slow start that found him in 17th place, Hahn had one of the rides of the race by coming through the field. With a better start, he knows he could have contended for his first podium.

"I'm going to go work on some starts this week and keep having fun with it," Hahn said. "I'm really enjoying all these rounds. I'll keep my head down and keep a smile on my face."

Teammate Eli Tomac hopes to have a smile on his face this weekend, too. He had a career-best finish of second at Indianapolis two weeks ago and would love to repeat that performance as Supercross returns indoors.

"I'm ready to race and am more than ready for another podium," Tomac said. "Indy was a great race for the team and for me because now we know we can do it in 450. It won't be easy, for sure, but we know we can get back up front, and that's what we want to do this weekend."

Ford Field is a new venue for Supercross, meaning rookies Hahn and Tomac will be on as equal footing as possible this weekend.

"Detroit is a car town, as we all know, but we're bringing our GEICO Honda bikes there for the fans to see," Tomac said. "The fans in the area have been asking for it, and we hope to put on a good show for them."

FOX Sports 1 will broadcast the action at 11:30 p.m. ET, Saturday.
