Walker Hoping For Better Outcome At Dick Cepek Tires Bassmaster Elite Series Event

The Bassmaster Elite Series kicks off this weekend, and pro angler David Walker is hoping to turn his luck around at the Dick Cepek Tires Bassmaster Elite Series presented by Hardee's event on Lake Seminole.

In a season that hasn't gone how the Cabela's/GEICO For Your Boat Elite angler would like so far, Walker is hoping all that changes this weekend with a win and an automatic berth into the 2015 Bassmaster Classic.

"I'm expecting to see some big bags of fish brought in," Walker said. "This is a lake that really has some big-fish potential. I'm just hoping that I happen to be one of them because so far the big fish have really been avoiding me this season. I'm trying to stay optimistic about it.

"Based on the conditions we've had, I know that winning practice isn't always the best thing. Hopefully, I can turn my luck around at Lake Seminole tomorrow and throughout the weekend."

However, Walker may have his work cut out for him with a weather forecast that has changed drastically overnight.

"We have had some really warm weather this week, around 80 degrees, sunny and no wind," Walker said. "The rain came through last night though, so now they're calling for some cold weather with highs only in the 50s and lows in the 30s.

"The weather is definitely going to put a damper on it being easy fishing this weekend. When it comes to these lakes that have the potential for a lot of people to catch big fish, regardless of the conditions, it seems only a few people manage to catch the big ones."

Regardless of the weather, Walker is ready to get out on the lake with the rest of the Elite Series anglers, with launch scheduled for 7:30 a.m. from Earle May Boat Basin each day and weigh-in at 4 p.m.

"Right now, we are right around spawning time for fish," Walker said. "There are quite a few fish sitting right around garden beds or getting ready to create beds. I feel like that shallow water spawning-type area is going to be key in this event. My hope is that I find the right spot at Lake Seminole to bring in the big catches."
