Wells Tops Pro Singles Opener In Daytona

Round one of the AMA Pro Flat Track series kicked off on the sandy oval at the Daytona International Speedway and the Motorcycle Superstore / Bell Helmet riders kicked it into gear by dominating the 16-lap Pro Singles Class main event, grabbing six of the top 10 spots.

Ryan Wells knew coming into the event that he was ready to win, but you never know when it comes to Daytona; you not only have to beat 17 other riders, you also have to master and beat the track. "In my heat race the track really didn't suit my style. I couldn't find a good rhythm and struggled to get the finish I did, but that all changed in the main event when I got the holeshot, found that big blue groove, and rode a mistake-free race to the finish."

Wells stretched out his lead on the 1/4-mile track and led the way for the rest of the Motorcycle Superstore / Bell Helmet riders. Rodney Spencer finished 4th, Dan Bromley had a solid night in both his heat races and the main finishing 6th. Nick Armstrong and Dominic Colindres took 7th and 8th while Mike Poe rounded out the top 10 spot.

One of the best rides of the night came from Motorcycle Superstore's Kyle Johnson who crashed hard in his heat race resulting in some broken ribs, but Kyle came back to win the LCQ and make it to the main event.

Tonight is Round Two of the 16-round championship and with a better feel for the track the competition, like the weather, is expected to heat up. To watch live streaming on your computer, go to FansChoice.tv. Opening ceremonies start at 7:30 p.m. EST.

Racing begins at 8:00 p.m. sharp. The reviews for the live streaming have been great... if you can't make it to Daytona, check it out at home!
